I stumbled on Banh Mi Saigon while trying to shop at Sun Wing Supermarket on Bellaire -- I didn't even know this place existed, but it might become my new go-to bánh mì spot in Houston. It's located inside Sun Wing; as soon as you walk through the entrance, look immediately to the right and you'll see the small sandwich counter. Important note: Sun Wing Supermarket is currently closed for renovations (as of late November 2025) and won't fully reopen until 2026, but the entrance to access Banh Mi Saigon is still open. Just follow the signs, even though there's construction happening on the facade. The staff is great -- I chatted with Andy, who was super friendly and welcoming. The prices are honestly some of the best I've seen: my favorite bánh mì options like meatball, char siu pork, and shredded chicken are only $4.75, and they offer buy 4, get 1 free. Hard to beat that in Houston. I tried the grilled pork bánh mì on this visit. It was fully loaded with meat and generous with the veggies (carrot, daikon, cucumber). The grilled pork was a bit fatty for my taste, but for the portion size and price, I'd absolutely come back -- especially to try the other flavors. Overall, a great hidden gem with friendly service, unbeatable prices, and solid bánh mì. I'll definitely be returning. read more
