Dr. Pritwit (Patrick) Basu is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist. He has affiliations with Columbia, Mt. Sinai, and Long Shore LI Hospital in Forest Hills. I think he's been teaching with Long Island University Brooklyn.
He has excellent bedside manner and is overall a very friendly guy & extremely knowledgeable. He always has 1 or 2 residents in his office as well- they gloat about all they have learned under him & how much he knows. It's refreshing to speak to a doctor who can explain things thoroughly with a sound history disease & various treatment options.
Bloodwork is done on sight, certain days are for sonograms and procedures. They are thorough with what is needed to be scheduled.
Dr. Basu's schedule does seem to fill up fast, due to days that he's performing procedures in the office, or at the Hospital, or teaching. Appointments at the end of those days seem a bit rushed & haphazard. He occasionally goes away to conferences. They're open on Saturdays.
The staff is extremely friendly & able to fit you in if there's an emergency. Walking under the Forest Hills LIRR station, on cobblestone roads, to Dr. Basu's homey Queenscentric quaint office & staff, makes doctor's visits less daunting. read more
