If you don't know where it is, it's somewhat hard to find as the sign leading into the parking lot is not especially conspicuous and faces north. Parking is abundant and free.
The short walk to the tree (about one minute) is beautiful, as you will go through a grove of tree completely covered in yellow moss/lichen. The big tree is magnificent, and there are multiple signs and stations around it with educational points. This tree is 1500 years old and is a piece of history. It has been admired by generations and generations. You can see a photo that someone took from the 1700s displayed in front of the tree.
Make sure you look all the way to the top, and you just might spot the random huckleberry bush that is growing in its branches! read more
