I was recently referred to Dr. Scalas at Bloomfield for a consultation on saving two molars. To be quite honest I believed that I may lose these molars as the root canals were performed in the 1980s. At my consultation Dr. Scalas advised me that not only can he save both molars, but that his practice offers same day crowns! I've been around the field of dentistry since childhood as the dentist who originally did my root canals was my father Dr. Phil Ortiz. The office staff are amazing people! You are made to feel welcome and appreciated! They are all so eager to make sure you walk away happy Now back to this same day crown business ... Dr. Scalas offers incredible advanced technology. First he used what I'll call a 3D xray using a wand that simply scans over your teeth providing the Dr. a clear picture of your teeth (See Photo). The scan is then transmitted to a milling machine that amazingly uses that 3D scan to create from a block, the perfectly form fitting crown(s)!! Also see photo.
