They have state of the art facilities and I've had a great experience. They will do anything necessary to take care of their patients. My aging crown came off in Paris. If you're looking for a great Dentist office, this is the place. I'm new to this area and have been going to Bloomfield Dental Group for about 2 years. I am no stranger to a Dentists chair and sadly as I get older (60) I've become more anxious. Besides my regular cleaning with Katie, I've been made aware that a number of my old crowns need to be replaced. This is no surprise to me, since I'm a major grinder at night, but was definitely dreading the whole experience. I had to write a review and let everyone know what a great experience I had.... Yes, I'm still talking about my major dental procedure!! Dr. Michelle Ikoma, Prosthodontics trained and was a Professor at USC for 18 years. She specializes in treating difficult cases. She and her friendly and capable assistant Lori Martin made sure I was comfortable, relaxed and properly numbed. The procedure went smoothly, and I couldn't believe how well it went. I never thought I would say this, but I have a few more crowns to be replaced, and I'm actually not dreading the appointment. Beautiful office. Beautiful female staff except for Scalas. The dentistry is top notch high tech but I will warn you of this. All but 1 of my crowns have been done here. I have 3 gold ones in the back because porcelain seems to chip and crack. Scalas talked me into doing the last one in porcelain. I told him if it doesn't last I expect him to replace it at his cost. He laughed. Fast forward 6.5 years and what happens? The crown falls off and I have moved to a new state. I am told by my new dentist that it failed because it had a weak seal and that it should be replaced by Scalas. Call the office and I get told that 6.5 years is a good life for a crown. Hello? The gold ones are all in perfect shape and much older. Just know you have no backing out that super expensive crown when it starts to come out of their pocket. Get gold crowns for the back and DO NOT let him talk you out of it. read more

The staff here is probably one of the nicest group of dental staff you'll come across. The office is gorgeous and you have a view of a koi pond while getting work done. I had several dental procedures done here for 17 years and have a beautiful smile. I didn't realize how old school a lot of the equipment is until moving out of the area where more modern dental equipment is used. I.e. lab work done onsite and 3D x-rays are standard at two other dentists I've tried. This is a great dentist if you don't need any major work done but I'd recommend checking other dentists in the area if you want the latest technology used for the same price. read more

This dental office is exactly what I wanted: Clean, courteous, very professional and personable. True, the setting is gorgeously arranged to provide a very relaxing and calming view of a koi pond, available from each of the patient rooms (minus the cleaning room where you're facing the ceiling the entire time, so no loss there) And more than the thoughtfully designed landscape, this office just... has a Culture about it! As a business owner, I can easily recognize when there is intention and dedication to excellence and THAT IS THIS PLACE. From the receptionists at the door (Sylvia & Erica), to hygenists and assistants Ana, Liz, Lori and Dr. Scalas himself, the office is organized, well communicated, thorough, and kind. I appreciate how intuitive and sensitive they are to those who are nervous dentists goers or those who carry the weight of knowing they haven't taken care of their teeth and are looking to change that. I knew, being the latter of those two patients, that I would have some costly work to be done and what most important to me was to have someone with integrity, experience and knowledge help me to get back on track. In one of my first visits, Dr. Scalas ran a procedure (I believe he capped a tooth) and in utilizing his new materials and thereby new approach, he asked if he could take a photo to send to a colleague. Awkward as that sounds, it shows me that Dr. Scalas is staying current and informed on all that is developing in his profession as well as collaborating with other professionals in his field which, "iron sharpens iron", gives me confidence that he is only looking to be the best and keep in company of those aspiring to do the same. I appreciate so much about the way the office runs its appointment confirmations, schedules out the work that needs to be done, thoroughly explains: what needs to be done, what can wait and what needs attention right away. As well as their fantastic way of determining what kind of client you're hoping to be (their welcome, letter to paraphrase tremendously, offers the levels of: 1) damage control 2) maintaining 3) getting you to your best smile *so that when and if the prices scare you! You are welcome to pause and ease into the work at he pace that best suits you and your comfort WHICH IS HUGE!! IMO * If you were looking for a complaint, my only one is the appointment cancellation policy... with two little ones, I'm always fearful of what might come up and cause a last minute cancellation (there's a $50 fee for cancellations within 48hrs of appt) and yet, 3 years of service and I've only had ONE last minute reschedule and the fee was courteously waived. Great staff, great atmosphere (koi pond with spider webs glistening in the sun poking through the rafters is worth the price of admission) and Dr Scalas himself is great! Luckily, I've only had preventive work done, but when he's checked my tongue for legions and reviewed x-rays with me, he's always very friendly, asks about my family, and never makes me feel rushed. The ladies at the front desk are super friendly and patient, and my hygienist only makes me feel a little guilty for not flossing enough (and if anyone does floss enough, I'm not sure I trust them). Read this if you're serious about finding an excellent dental practice. You will not find a better dentist than Dr. Scalas, and his entire staff meets the same quality of excellence. From start to finish you will be dealing with an exceptional group of highly-skilled, professional yet very warm and genuinely caring people. I had been cared for by this office for many years until we moved to AZ, at which time cold reality hit; after much research we tried three different dental practices, over time, without finding one that met the standards of Dr. Scalas and staff. For example, when in AZ my husband received a "bite plate" (mouth guard), the Dentist did not check his technician's work; the finished product didn't fit quite right and my husband immediately said "this would not have happened with Dr. Scalas as he carefully inspects all work done in his practice" - no matter how seemingly insignificant. One AZ dentist actually damaged my tooth when crowning it, and another missed an abcess which resulted in very serious health consequences (and the loss of the tooth). This will not happen to you at this Bloomfield Dental Group in Cypress. When having these problems and also when having a dental crisis overseas, I wrote to Dr. Scalas for advice, even though I was no longer his patient. He responded each time with concern and excellent guidance. We have since moved back to CA and have resumed our relationship with this office, with immense relief. Their pricing is average as seen among the better dental groups. The office is very clean, attractive, the koi pond delightful, and there is sedation dentistry available. Their work is thorough and they truly make every effort to make you comfortable and to give you the best care possible. You will be thoroughly informed of your situation and your options. They will not try to "sell" you anything. In conclusion, I have just received a new bridge and as expected, the work was of the highest quality as was the entire experience. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Scalas and his staff. My teeth had started to break down and decay had set in, plus I was self conscious of the way they looked. Dr. Scalas was recommended by several dental professionals that I know. I was looking for a high quality, highly-skilled dentist. I knew I needed major dental work and it was going to be expensive, but I didn't want to lose my teeth and I had been saving for years. I wanted the best and I found him. After X-rays, before photos, preliminary impressions, the treatment plan, the actual prepping of teeth began. It was time consuming, but painless and in no way was I uncomfortable. Long story short, my teeth are absolutely gorgeous. I am so pleased. I am in awe of the time, skill and effort that goes into a case like this, not only the one-on-one staff, doctor-patient time but behind the scenes that the patient doesn't see. The staff? That's a whole other book. Those ladies are the creme of the crop - skilled, knowledgeable, down to earth, they know how to make you feel comfortable and they are fun. It was Monday morning and I called the office because a piece of my tooth had disappeared. It had cracked over the weekend and I thought I'd wait until that Wednesday at my cleaning to have it looked at. But my tooth would not wait. They were able to fit me in when it was most convenient for me, after I was off work. And they actually had time to put a crown on! Even though it was the end of their day and everyone wanted to get home, Dr Scalas was able to fix my huge broken filling and fit me with a crown. He had been monitoring that tooth for a while, but no one knew how much relief from pain I would have after the visit was over. It is the next day and I called the office to thank them for having the time to fix my tooth right away. Wow! They were so professional and precise and patient with me. It took them 3 tries before my overly sensitive mouth took to the Novocaine, which shortened the amount of time the Dr. had to work on my huge filling, but he was able to thoroughly clean out that mess, and cover it with a beautifully snug temporary crown. I go back in 2 weeks to get my custom fit crown, which I know will be perfect. I know this because Dr Scalas just did another crown for my apparently brittle teeth (from dry mouth) and fit it so well, it was identical to the old tooth even to the little groove on the end. Monday's crown will be crown#3. The first one I had done at another dentist which has thrown off my bite because the grooves were not in any detail to allow for proper biting. This is what made me seek out another dentist. Three dentists later and I have found the dentist that I will be glad to do any more crowns in my teeth. I will go nowhere else. I highly recommend that if you are particular about your bite and the groves in your natural teeth that Dr Scalas is the one for you. Also, their office is full of the friendliest and calmest people I have ever met. The office is so tranquil and beautiful with the coi pond, and the tropical and traditional waiting room that it really sets up patients for a positive experience. read more

I am a senior citizen and have seen many dentists in my life. Dr. Scalas and Staff are unquestionably the tops. I say this not as a new patient but one that has been a patient of the Bloomfield Dental Group for some time -- and so has my wife. I don't think you will find more professional folks or any more attentive or responsive to the concerns and comfort of the patient. That to me means everything considering some of the uncomfortable experiences I have had along the way elsewhere. I'm very disappointed in the customer service I received from Dr. Scalas. I was 15 minutes late for my appointment because of unexpected traffic, and he proceeded to lecture me for another 10 minutes on how he is busy and how since I'm late he would barely have time to fill my cavity. He was clearly very annoyed with me and the last thing I want was an annoyed and rushed dentist to be drilling into my mouth. It was completely out of hand and very rude. I immediately left and made an appointment for a different dentist. My two daughters always told me Dr. Scalas made them uncomfortable and he was very condescending to them but I never listened and boy did I learn the hard way. My family and I will 100% not return to the Bloomfield Dentist Group and specifically Dr. Scalas. I would not recommend to anyone with some self respect. read more

I drive 30-45 minutes (with traffic) for my appointments at Bloomfield Dental, and it's worth it. I'm a bit skiddish when it comes to dentists, and Dr. Scalas puts me at ease. I can't say enough about Bloomfield Dental. I am 43 years old and I have been going here since I was a kid. Originally Dr. Malouf was there and I would have trusted him with my life. When he retired Dr. Scalas took over the practice and I was nervous! Dr. Malouf assured me that I would be impressed with Dr. Scalas, and over the years I definitely have been! He is so kind, knowledgeable and I have NEVER been in pain in his chair! You literally barely feel the shots in your mouth!
