Fun dinner at Catfish Parlour in Georgetown. The place has a great old-school Southern atmosphere with tons of vintage decor and a menu full of fried Southern favorites.
If you're coming here, be ready for fried food -- most of the menu is fried, and they do it really well. Everything came out crispy without being overly greasy, and the fish was cooked perfectly. We also tried the gumbo, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, and a few other Southern favorites.
The highlight for us was definitely the raw oysters. They were running a half-off special for the weekend, which worked out to only $1 an oyster -- hard to beat that! Add a cold beer and that alone made the visit worthwhile.
Service was really good too -- attentive, polite, and fast throughout our meal.
I'd definitely come back for the oysters, cold beer, and some perfectly fried fish. read more
