I came here Sunday afternoon for an early dinner for a birthday celebration and the place looked wonderful. Their menu is huge with Mediterranean staples and some more traditional dishes. The wait staff was wonderful.
For appetizers we got the hummus, babaganosh, Shepard salad and falafel. The spreads were all delicious and they serve complimentary bread that is pita and another flatter bread which is great. The Shepard salad was refreshing. The falafel was the star of the show for me. The outside was insanely crispy and the inside was pillowy and flavored. It came with dipping sauce which I think was tahini and it paired very well with it.
For dinner I got their okra lamb dish and my husband and father in law got the lamb shank. My mother and sister in-laws got the chicken shush. The okra dish was so big! The dish was a cross between a stew and casserole and it had delicious baby okra in warm tomato liquid and the lamb was extremely tender. It's a dish you'd want to be waiting for you on a cold summer night. It was served with rice on the side as well and it went perfect. The dish was so huge that I wound up taking a majority of it home. My husband's lamb shank was HUGE! It was well cooked and fell off the bone. It was surrounded by veggies and was a very impressive plate. The only complaints about the dishes, specifically the entrees was that they lacked a bit of salt. I am not one who likes their food overly seasoned or salty, but it definitely needed a small pinch to help bring out the natural flavors of the dishes.
However, this place is a star and a great new addition to Cresskill. The prices for the amount of food you get in incomparable to anything else on the area. We will be sure to frequent here again! Stop by and try it out. read more
