James is THE GUY for safe live bee relocation.
A few days ago, we were enjoying outside time with our dogs, when one of them sniffed something and jumped back. It turned out that bees had moved in under the garden shed, and were flying in and out of the little drainage hole and generally "beeing" a little too scary for us. We quickly got the dogs inside (especially one of them, who LOVES to eat bugs or anything that crawls).
Orkin were due to come the next day, and they took a look and said it would be a job for a specialist, who would have to come and cut open the shed floor and take out the honeycomb etc. and they would refer someone to me but it could cost as much as $2200........ So far nothing from Orkin, zero follow up.
I did a lot of online searching and after seeing James' reviews on Yelp for CJ Bee Services, I contacted him.
James came out the next day and set my mind at rest. He said by the fact we only just started seeing the bees and because he was not seeing them carrying any pollen, he was confident that they had not yet started on the honeycomb and that, even though there might be just a few scouts or it could be many bees, he still felt we got it in time, before they started making honey!
James treated the entrance and the colony did a mass exit (a LOT of bees) and after some serious outside re-grouping they buzzed off somewhere else. James then treated the area some more and blocked the holes so they didn't try to move back in.
He recommended that we keep the dogs inside for a few days, as there would be some stragglers - which there were. I guess those ones didn't want to move house again! But by day two, they were ALL gone.
Now we have our tranquility and safety back, the bees were unharmed and free to find new accommodation, and the dogs are back to playing in the yard.
The price was very fair and I'm so pleased with James' punctuality, skill, BRAVERY, and for doing such great work with nature's little honey-makers.
Thank you, James. read more
