This Mississauga location of Congee Queen is another solid addition to the well-known chain, and it definitely draws a crowd. There was a long lineup when I went for dinner, which isn't surprising given the brand's consistent popularity and generally reliable food quality.
One of the highlights of the meal was the Canton-style fried noodles. The portion was generous, and the dish came loaded with ingredients that exactly what you'd hope for from a classic stir-fried noodle. The flavors were spot on, and it was easily one of the best plates of the night.
The honey garlic chicken wings were another standout. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and coated with just the right amount of sweetness, they were absolutely delicious. It's an easy 10/10.
However, not everything hit the mark. The sweet and sour pork delivered the traditional Cantonese flavor profile, but the texture of the meat was a letdown. It was so tough and chewy that it felt like cutting through it required actual effort with a power saw. Unfortunately, it's a 5/10 dish because of the texture.
Overall, the experience really depends on what you order. Some dishes shine, while others miss the mark. That said, Congee Queen still offers a wide range of dependable Chinese favorites, served quickly and at reasonable prices.
Despite the occasional inconsistency, I would still recommend this location, just as I would for the chain's other branches across the GTA. read more
