The meal I had at Dalia last night was PHENOMENAL! Dalia is a new tapas restaurant in Southie & I'll be honest, I had doubts before trying their food because I could not believe a restaurant this beautiful could serve such delicious food! The interior... stunning! Dalia is operated by the Broadway Restaurant Group & you may be familiar with their other restaurants: Capo, Lincoln Tavern, Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar, Prima, Capri, & Hunter's Kitchen & Bar. We did walk-in and they were booked out for tables. Luckily, we were able to get two seats at the bar (first come, first serve!) Our server/one of the bartenders was perfect! She was super attentive & helpful with providing suggestions for what to order. This is what we ended up ordering: - Hamburguesitas - Croquetas de Pollo - Patatas Bravas - Churro (crab meat & caviar) - Pluma Iberico - Hamachi crudo - Valencia Paella (half size) -Tarta Tatin First, I want to start out by saying I am so impressed by how quickly the food came out! We expected a little bit of a wait since the restaurant was PACKED but everything came within minutes of each dish. Our favorites were the Hamburguesitas, Patatas bravas, churros, and Tarta Tatin! The Hamburguesitas were cooked perfectly to our liking & super flavorful. Normally with smaller thicker patty burgers, we've experienced the patty being dry & this was not the case here. It was juicy! Patatas bravas is always a must-order for whenever I go to a tapas spot. What set this Patatas bravas apart from other spots for me was that they cut the potato in layers! The aioli + salsa bravas were yummy too. We really enjoyed the churros because the churros were soft and fluffy. It paired well with the crab meat + caviar, a little bit salty, a little bit creamy... can't go wrong. Now, the Tarta Tatin has got to be my favorite dessert I've ordered in a VERY long time. This was our server's recommendation & I'm so glad we went with this dessert. The hot bananas with the rum caramel & vanilla bean gelato, too good! Out of everything we ordered, this was my ultimate favorite! I would literally come back... just to get this dessert. Opinions on the other dishes: Croquetas de Pollo- wished there was more meat filling and less cheese Pluma Iberico- the pork was cooked perfectly but did not like the pairing with the passionfruit caramel + quince jam. Hamachi- the fish tasted fresh! Wish there was more citrus/yuzu taste. Did not like the bits of ginger. Felt like it overpowered the dish and took away from the fish. Valencia Paella- ordered the half size. Smaller than expected but it was super flavorful! Lots of seafood, wish there was more rice. All of the dishes we ordered were very delicious, overall. I'm glad we got to try everything and now we will know what to order next time, based on what we loved/did not like as much from this visit. Food was fire, service was 10/10, ambience was lively, and the restaurant is beautiful + aesthetic! Prices were on par with other nearby tapas spots... a bit pricey but food and service were great. Will definitely come back again ;) Parking: free parking lot across the street + free street parking. read more
