I've been a big fan of the Don Pedro restaurants around the Portland area for years and have eaten at all of them. So I was pleasantly surprised to see a brand new location on E Powell Blvd in Gresham...and had to stop in to try their tacos. All the other Don Pedros are freestanding locations but this one is actually in a strip mall, which makes it a bit harder to spot. I like to try a variety of toppings when going to a new taco place so I ordered four different tacos...carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, and chicken. Also, I try them without any sauce on them at first to see what the meat tastes like by itself. Well, they were OK, but nothing special. The seasonings on all four were sufficient to give each some flavor, but perhaps MORE seasoning would have been good. Also, I thought the meats were sort of "damp" because the tortillas were all soaked through with wetness and were breaking apart. The restaurant space itself is neat, new, and clean, with a sizable seating area. The lady at the front counter was very pleasant and friendly. Overall, I think the food there is not as delicious as the other older Don Pedro locations, but maybe they'll get better as time goes on. read more
