Since a coworker and I were in Boston for a conference, I thought to arrange a dinner with our remote coworker who is based in Boston. He recommended this Japanese restaurant and the food looked amazing! Couldn't wait to check it out!
It's located on the first floor of the Equinox Dartmouth apartment complex across of another apartment complex on Dartmouth St in Back Bay. There's street parking (not sure if paid) and paid parking lots around the area.
While waiting for our other coworker and table, my coworker and I got a drink at the bar. I got their Secret Garden drink which reminded me so much on the butterfly tea that changed colors! I got a side of lemon juice to pour into my drink and immediately the colors changed from a dark bluish-purple to a light purple. So fun! The drink was also quite good too!
Our seat was finally ready, so we moved to a table with our drinks. When it was time to order, I realized I wanted to try multiple things but didn't want a full entrée to myself LOL. So I ordered the Spicy Lobster Miso Soup, a Scallop Kushi Yaki and Shrimp Kushi Yaki, and then shared two sushi rolls, a Snow Mountain and Millennium Roll, with my coworkers (I ended up eating most of them as both of them ordered an entrée and was getting full LOL). We also shared Shumai and Gyoza which were great appetizers to have.
The spicy lobster miso soup was gooood! A bit too salty for my taste but delicious as the "spiciness" brought out a different flavor from the "normal" miso soup. The skewers weren't mind blowing, but they were still delicious and were all cooked perfectly. The specialty sushi rolls, on the other hand, were delicious! The rice was perfectly cooked and not overpowering the seafood. The snow mountain roll had real crab on top which stayed on top of the rice beautifully. The tuna on the millennium roll was also super fresh. I've been having bad experiences with tuna especially on rolls since moving to the continental US, but I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of it!
Overall, the restaurant is a bit on fancy, pricier side. There was a huge variety of food options and the quality of them were great! Definitely a great place for a date or company outing! read more
