My daughter and I ate lunch at El Nopal in New Albany, Indiana. There are several of the El Nopal restaurants throughout the Louisville Metro area. If you're incredibly hungry, and there's nowhere else available to eat, El Nopal will do in a pinch. But I wouldn't recommend it if you're wanting authentic Mexican cuisine, or even decent cuisine. The shredded beef in the chimichanga that I had, had a lot of fat chunks in it. The meal altogether was very bland, with little spice or seasoning to flavor it. The rice and refried beans had absolutely no taste at all. A dollop of sour cream and guacamole was put on the plate. And again, the guacamole was pretty much tasteless. The mild salsa tasted like watered down tomato sauce. The salsa that was supposed to be spicier, tasted like the mild salsa. The only difference in taste between the two salsas, was it seemed somebody had thrown in some diced jalapeños into the mild salsa to make it "hot". The queso sauce was also extremely bland. Overall a very disappointing meal. read more
