I am on a mission to find the best cocktail lounge in New Mexico. There are 21 others who share this mission. We have been on the quest for about 1.5 years. We have hit a number of lounges with mixed results. Fat Frank's has been on my list for a while. For some reason I just never pulled the trigger on the place. Last night we finally went to Fat Franks. There were 18 enchanted loungers. We only had drinks. We did not order food. We all loved our cocktails, the place, and the service. The cocktails were great and creative. The vibe is hippity hop cool. The place is small and tight. We arrived at 6.00 p.m. Initially, we were the only ones in the place. By the time we left at 7.20, the place was full. The service was great. The bartender knew his drinks and their ingredients. He made good suggestions when asked. Mike was terrific. Even though there were 18 of us, tracking individual tabs was no problem. When it was time to go, tabs were quickly processed and cleared and we were on our way to dinner. Afterwards, we all agreed that this was one of the top five best lounges we have been too in ABQ / Santa Fe. read more
