Pretzelwurst, Bahn mi, and duck hotdogs. Mac & cheese and truffle blue cheese fries
    Angela B.

Urban hotdog's foray into the speakeasy world has a lot going for it. You enter through the alley and either donate items directly to their monthly charity for entrance or they'll add a donation to your bill. You walk right by the kitchen into a basement bar that is clean, modern, and simple. The drink menu is full of fun looking drinks, food is found by qr code on your drink coasters. And then you wait. After being seated it was 15 min before anyone greeted us (there were maybe 4 other tables, wasn't very busy). Staff was giving the energy of slammed individuals on the busiest night they've ever survived. When we finally ordered drinks and said we were ready to order food too (because how long before they'd be back?) We were told they couldn't handle that yet it was too much. The drinks were good, but not worth a 20 min wait between ordering and receiving. Food was great when we finally got it ordered it came quick - the kitchen was sending food fast and as delicious as always. Really recommend the Bahn Mi and Mac & cheese fries. We didn't order a second round. Our food was long gone and we had just been sitting and talking for half an hour with empty water glasses. We headed to a bar with a more prepared staff.

    $17 and $19 cocktails...

This one is tough to write. I really liked Fat Franks when they first opened. They have increased their cocktail prices. I ordered a $17 cocktail that was served in a glass that looked to be from Dollar Tree. Not kidding. Nothing against Dollar tree, but C'mon... We had a reservation and waited outside about 5-10 minutes before anyone answered the phone/door. We almost left. We came to realize that the bouncer was also the doorman...Poor guy was running up the stairs to let people in, then running back downstairs to make drinks. And it's not like this place was packed. Every time I have been here it's pretty dead. I've only been on Friday & Saturday nights after 7pm. Sadly, the cocktails were lack luster. For the price, it only made the lack luster flavor sting more. The food was also overpriced and just okay - nothing mind blowing. I mean - French fries and hotdogs...c'mon... I love their concept to help the community by asking for donated canned goods as an entry fee. Overall - if I am going to chose a Speakeasy, I will be heading to Founder's.

OK, I want to start off with saying that their delivery system is very interesting and overall different from some of the other speakeasy environments I've experienced. I love that they are partnering with local nonprofits and tying admission into donations. The space is cool. It's pretty big and easily accommodated a larger party of six of us. Service was great, they never got super busy. Our reservation was for 6:30 on a Saturday night and I believe there were two other parties the entire time we were there. I really really enjoyed the cocktail offerings, they're a bit on the price your side for cocktails and Albuquerque, but I got the dreamsicle cocktail twice and it was really good. I was able to sip a few other cocktail options that friends ordered, including the espresso martini, which was very sweet. The food options were decent. I will say I felt like the food prices were a little high for hotdogs and french fry type stuff. I would personally rather just keep it to cocktails, but it is great that they have food options.

Overall good experience. Hotdog and fries are the only options for food, and an affogato pour ( ice cream and espresso). The ambiance is kinda flat, could lean more into the speakers vibe if it was darker, more moody. 5.5/10.

I knew after dinner we may wanna grab 1 more drink so I had checked to see if there were any new spots sine the last time we were in town. I hadn't heard of this Teddy Roe's so we grabbed a reservation for the late evening. After getting dropped off by a car we tried to find the entrance. I'm not going to give away the trick to it but it was fun. Once inside we got our spot that we held. I didn't see a drink on their menu that I liked that was rum based, so I asked the kind bartender if they could make me one. I only asked that it be alcohol forward, but that I was good if it was a more fruity drink too. They brought me a concoction that was perfect. It's a real nice place. The ornate ceiling and the beautiful bar added to the regal vibes of the place. I would definite recommend Teddy's; it's one of the best speakeasies in town.

In a rare turn of events, both kids got the same thing, the Korean chicken bites with the sauce on the side, which was a great decision bc it did have a kick to it. The chicken itself was a bit dry. Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

The citrus was definitely citrus and refreshing. The pot star martini was very funny and fun to drink, wirh a lot of tropical flavors, but it was not as fun as the glittery cosmo. First off, the menus were terribly hard to read. The dim lighting, coupled with the light print on the newspaper like menus was a terrible combination. Several people in my party were pulling out their cell phones to shine the flashlight on the menu to try to read it. Next, when you're trying to capture a tiki bar type experience, that includes this expectation of fun over the top, cocktails comprised of ingredients you can't easily acquire to make it home or order anywhere else. The cocktail menu that the waiter said was "balanced" when he referred to all of their drinks, didn't really hit the spot. The flavors were pretty limited, and we're all very middle of the road. Nothing too exciting or potentially gripping. And honestly, when I come to a tiki bar I want a sugary fruit filled flavor bomb. And they had nothing like that on the menu. My husband is more of a hard cocktail drinker, and he even commented that their offerings felt stilted and not exciting. I would come back at a future date, but I would check the menu first to see if any changes had been made. Very cool location, though!
