I have been searching for truly fantastic Cuban food in Tampa, and Flan Factory gets it exactly right. We had Croquetas, a Beef Empanada, an order of Timba (fried chunks of queso blanco with guava dipping sauce-this dish almost made me cry, it was so frickin good), a Pan con Bistec, a Tampeno Sandwich, an order of fries, and three servings of flan. Every person at the table unanimously agreed that this was a mind blowingly good meal, the type you are excited about, and think about for weeks after until you can return. Everything was just beyond delicious. Highlights for us were the Timba, the Pan Con Bistec, the original flan, and the pumpkin pie flan. The pumpkin pie flan was so damn good...not at all a flan in flavor, but who cares? The texture and consistency of flan, with the exact taste of pumpkin pie...I can't. Just amazing. I spoke with the owner and thanked him profusely for opening this restaurant. I longed for delicious Cuban and was nostalgic for these flavors that Flan Factory has successfully delivered to Ybor.
