Our experience with dinner was a mixed bag - 3 stars. Two of us stopped in for dinner and we sat at the front sushi bar. I ordered 2 tuna based sushi rolls and my friend got a shrimp tempura dinner with 2 sides. I topped things off with green tea flavored mochi ice cream. GOOD: Our food was very good, no complaints whatsoever. It came out quickly. And our server was very friendly. I really enjoyed watching their young children (very cute!) helping with some menial tasks in the front of the house. Finally, I felt the prices were reasonable. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: Our server was very, very slow...friendly...but slow as hell. In fact, we had to flag her down every time we needed something, like when we ordered, when we needed beverage refills, when we wanted our tabs, etc. Kinda lame since it wasn't busy and I counted at least 3 employees. Since we sat at the front bar, I was able to watch food prep. I observed several unsafe food handling practices. In addition, there were fruit flies hovering all over the place. This was very concerning. I never would have seen this stuff if we sat at a table. (As a certified ServSafe Manager, I'm fully trained on basic safe food handling practices.) I don't want to pick on them or get into more detail on the food handling thing. But personally, I don't think I'd eat here again. (If I hadn't happened to see the food handling issues, I would have gone with 4 stars.)
