I visited Golden Dragon on a suggestion from a friend. It is a relatively new restaurant as well as Niagara's best kept secret for Chinese. It is tucked away in a strip mall with minimal signage. What it lacks in advertising it doesn't lack in flavor....it's one of those ..."I can't wait to come back" restaurants. Most menu items are very reasonable and competitive for this type of restaurant. We went purposely for lunch to see if the service and quality would differ from a dinner service. The lunch specials were all under $10. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with steamed rice and wonton soup. My dining partner Braised duck with rice and spring roll. The Teriyaki chicken was on point with both portion size and flavor. The star was the Braised duck...yes $10 for braised duck ....heavenly! My only gripe is the small bones...this dish is so good I think I ate some. To add to our tasting we also ordered some Dim Sum it was good but I have had better. The Har Gow was especially tasty with nice chucks of shrimp rather than the usually ground shrimp. The BBQ pork bun was also good...it's hard to mess those up. And lastly we sampled the steamed pork dumplings.. I found these to be good in the flavor area but the dumpling itself was chewy and stiff ...leading me to believe they have been frozen and not made to order. That being said Dim Sum is a rarity in this area so we take what we can get! Service was excellent with servers being very tentative....I didn't fill my tea cup my self not even once!
