Really impressed with this restaurant that, despite its humble strip mall location, goes beyond expectations in terms of flavor and menu creativity. There are a lot of Canadian/American-Chinese dishes on the menu but it goes beyond that and has things that I'm guessing are more authentic to China and a few fusion dishes also. I was particular impressed by the soft pepper noodle with beef or chicken. I had it with beef and it has a fantastic black pepper flavor and luscious thick noodles with just enough vegetables to give some texture. I'm including a photograph from mid-meal. It might not be beautiful but it's a stand out dish in flavor. One item to skip... The fried wontons. While ours were very crispy (and hot), the predominant flavor was fryer oil and the tiny (truly tiny) bits of ground pork in the wontons didn't help. Also, check out the combination plates if you want some of this and some of that instead a lot of one thing. We were visiting the area on vacation last week. We were in the mood for some Asian food and found this one very close to where we were staying. I'm so glad we tried it! There were lots of other diners and things were buzzing, but the service was wonderful and the food came out quickly. We ordered a combination dinner with a spring roll, sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, and fried rice and also a large shrimp fried rice (spicy). Everything on the combo plate was absolutely delicious! It was probably the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. Sadly, even better than my favorite at home. The shrimp fried rice was loaded with shrimp and they mean SPICY! It was perfection. The place is nothing fancy; it's in a strip mall with several other businesses. But, it's very clean and friendly inside. I'm so sad that we likely won't be back for a while- we live in the states. read more

This is a great local spot! Firstly- the value is out of this world. Very fair portions, great prices, the MaiTai was $8.95! I hate tourist traps that over charge and under deliver. The good: - the seafood tofu soup (size large at $23) was enough for 10 bowls. Great value, good quality ingredients, sounds pricey, but again, so much soup, and delicious. - the honey garlic ribs (could have used more honey) but very fair and had a homemade taste - the shrimp and pineapple fried rice was well fried and the ingredients tasted fresh - the Cantonese fried noodles were not my fav, but others in my group liked it ok. - service was attentive and decent. - the decor and openness of the restaurant meant we weren't squished together. As a party of 7, it was very appreciated. The less than good: I was not a fan of the spring/egg rolls. They were huge, and super oily. The taste on the inside was fine. If you're in Niagara Falls and looking for an arithmetic dim sum restaurant, 10/10 would recommend! My husband and I went on labour day, so we weren't even sure if it was open that day. We went right as it opened, as we had just checked out of our hotel. We were the only customers in the restaurant. I was craving some dim sum so we choose this restaurant and I don't regret my choice at all! Everything tasted so good and so fresh. My favourite was the congee! It was the perfect meal after a weekend of drinking. Ok before I get into the food- the service...was like one of kind special. I have never been so welcomed by a wait staff in my life. The waitress, upon seeing my two year old, took him under her wing like he was her own family. They were giving hugs and blowing kisses by the end. Food was great. THE BEST CHINESE FOOD I'VE EVER HAD! And at a very affordable price of $12-$20 CAD per plate (the portions size is huge, enough for 1.5-2 people each and each dish is meant to be shared via a huge Lazy-Susan. ) I honestly think that to find better Chinese food, you'd have to go to China. We had a large party and got quite a few dishes: (ranked best to ... to not best, there wasn't a single bad dish here, let alone a "worst") Orange Chicken: 10/10 Probably the best chicken I've ever had, period. Packed with umami, extremely tender and soaked in a delicious smoked soy sauce it was completely different from every other orange chicken I've had. Shrimp in Lobster Sauce: 10/10 Also the best shrimp we've ever had. So flavorful, complex and delicate the shrimp were swimming in a delicious soup of flavors I have yet to identify. Each bite brought out a new more subtle flavor hidden beneath more prominent flavors. Shrimp Fried Rice: 10/10 The best fried rice we've ever had, very rich, yet somehow light and refreshing with a strong tangy taste of sesame sauce, garlic and ginger. I'm going to have to learn how to replicate this one or I'm going to end up eating here every week. Lemon Chicken: 10/10 The best lemon chicken I've ever had. Extremely tender, flavorful and the best lemon sauce, I've ever had. It's almost like a custard but incredibly refreshing and packed with umami. Sides of Steamed Rice: 10/10 The rice was perfectly cooked and went great with all the sauces. Assorted Fried Vegetables: 9/10 Rich very well seasoned and so fresh! Szechuan Shrimp: 9/10 Extremely flavorful with powerful and complex umami. Quite mild, not nearly as spicy as I like to make at home. The mildness may disappoint others but I thought the umami more than made up for it. Szechuan Scallops: 8/10 These tasted exactly the same as the Szechuan Shrimp, not bad by any means but I wouldn't get both at the same time again. Was a tiny bit disappointed it only had regular-size scallops and not the big ones, but it was still very good. Chicken Balls: 7/10 They were the best chicken balls, I've ever had. Very tender with a very sweet and delicious, yet refreshing cherry sauce. However I'm biased against them because I'm not a huge fan of chicken balls in general. 2 x Appetizers of Torpedo Shrimp with Plum Sauce: 7/10 Truthfully they were very, very good. However $8.50 CAD for 4 torpedo shrimp it is not nearly as good a deal as anything else on the menu and is a bit hard to justify if you're on a budget. They are good enough that you could easily eat 2-3 plates by yourself and still have room for the rest of the meal. As for the other aspects of the restaurant. Firstly, this place is kind of hard to find. Nestled in the corner of an ordinary shopping plaza between two cannabis shops and an animal hospital with a Dollarama and an A&W a stone's throw away; it's the absolute last place I'd expect to find large 5-Star Chinese Restaurant. But I guess that's how they keep their prices so low. I have no complaints about their location. However, they need better signage. We drove around for about 10 minutes looking for it, and only arrived 1 minute before our reservation. The inside of the restaurant is perfectly clean, well-kept and modern. You won't find a wide assortment of stereotypical "Chinese Restaurant Décor" here, this place is completely authentic. For our dinner we had my 90-year-old grandma in-tow who uses a walker so good accessibly is an essential for us. Upon arriving we found that neither of the wheelchair buttons on the front door worked. Our waiter tried it himself and apologized profusely and said it would be fixed as soon as possible. Not too big a deal for us but it may be for others. Most of their dining area is elevated 2' or so and is only excessive via short stairs. However, there are plenty of tables at ground level, if you need an easily accessible table, make sure to make a reservation and specify wheelchair access. Their washrooms are cramped and I found the height of stalls too short for me; when standing up my head goes over a foot above the stall, I'm 6'. The men's washroom had only 1 toilet and 3 urinals. The women's washroom had 3 toilets. There is also a unisex wheelchair accessible washroom. However, my mother found it rather cramped looking after my grandma in there. The washrooms while cramped, were very clean and smelled clean too. I was amused that we were only given forks and knives and had to ask for chopsticks but I guess they're used to serving tourists who've never used them or maybe white people who can use them aren't common here. Even more amusing the chopsticks we were brought were Japanese-style rounded-end chopsticks not Chinese-style square-end. They even said 「いらしゃいませ」'irashaimase' "Welcome" in Japanese. I'm not complaining though, I just had a giggle. The service is first class! Needless to say the food is incredible and we will definitely be coming back. read more

We'll, I follow my instinct and it paid off! We went local and the food tasted delicious and the service was very good! We had the Chicken LoMein, the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and the Chicken Fried Rice. All three plates were served hot and the taste was first class. We also tried three different soup: Egg Drop, the Wanton and the Vegetable, all three were superb! We got there in the evening and we greeted greeted very friendly and we're attended quickly. I visited Golden Dragon on a suggestion from a friend. It is a relatively new restaurant as well as Niagara's best kept secret for Chinese. It is tucked away in a strip mall with minimal signage. What it lacks in advertising it doesn't lack in flavor....it's one of those ..."I can't wait to come back" restaurants. Most menu items are very reasonable and competitive for this type of restaurant. We went purposely for lunch to see if the service and quality would differ from a dinner service. The lunch specials were all under $10. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with steamed rice and wonton soup. My dining partner Braised duck with rice and spring roll. The Teriyaki chicken was on point with both portion size and flavor. The star was the Braised duck...yes $10 for braised duck ....heavenly! My only gripe is the small bones...this dish is so good I think I ate some. To add to our tasting we also ordered some Dim Sum it was good but I have had better. The Har Gow was especially tasty with nice chucks of shrimp rather than the usually ground shrimp. The BBQ pork bun was also good...it's hard to mess those up. And lastly we sampled the steamed pork dumplings.. I found these to be good in the flavor area but the dumpling itself was chewy and stiff ...leading me to believe they have been frozen and not made to order. That being said Dim Sum is a rarity in this area so we take what we can get! Service was excellent with servers being very tentative....I didn't fill my tea cup my self not even once! I recommend golden palace for lunch and dinner as it is probably the best Asian in the city without paying a ridiculous amount of money! read more
