DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! FIND A BETTER CENTER! THIS PLACE IS UNSAFE. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH TRYING TO DO A GOOD DEED. I have donated here several times and I have had more bad experiences than good. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and returned to give multiple chances because I genuinely want to donate plasma since I am intimately aware of how important these donations are. However, I can no longer ignore my experiences and in good conscience I cannot recommend ANYONE donate at this facility. They need to completely reform their training process. PLEASE NOTE, I have tried to express my concerns to the center on THREE separate occasions. Each time I get a phone call from the center manager with an apology, asking for another chance, but nothing changes. Where do I start with my bad experiences? There have been times where they don't check to see if you've stopped bleeding and send you on your way. I have gotten in my car and noticed I am bleeding all over my car and clothes. On nearly every visit, a poorly trained phlebotomist blows my vein and I end up with massive bruises. I have great veins in one of my arms, but every time they blow that one and it bruises, so they have to use my other arm which isn't as good and they stick the vein countless times, leaving me with bruises and swelling. On my most recent visit, they readjusted the needle over 10 times and still missed it, causing a bruise to form that now extends all the way down my elbow! I have severe shooting pain in my arm and it's been over a week, so I'm sure they managed to damage a nerve while they were at it. I have learned that they do not require training for their "phlebotomists" and provide "on the job" training. WHAT??? These people are sticking huge needles in your arm, you'd think they'd at least require proper training. Not to mention, the absolute LACK of sanitary measures when doing the IV line. The person will "clean" the area with the iodine prep and then touch the vein again with the same gloved hands that they are using to touch all the equipment, rendering that area no longer sterile and easily a source of infection. I witnessed someone putting on MORE gloves ON TOP of their old gloves between patients instead of removing their gloves and sanitizing their hands between every patient. Then using those same hands to touch the needle in my arm to adjust it after several techs missed the vein. THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE. Aside from the highly concerning safety issues and lack of proper training, the staff here is extremely unprofessional. The ladies at the front are constantly gossiping and laughing while the waiting room is full, and then rude to the patients during their assessment. The staff in the back is equally as unprofessional, stomping around and slamming things because they are always short staffed and everyone is always with an attitude. I have felt uncomfortable on multiple occasions due to the aggression and behavior of their phlebotomist who apparently never gets a lunch break. I've mentioned this to the management and they responded by saying they'll encourage him to take a vacation. Not to mention the catty fights and arguments between the staff which is loud and available for all to witness. How can I feel comfortable in a facility where there are cat fights and name calling instead of noticing that my machine has been beeping for 5 minutes?? The list goes on and on. To spare you the time and headache, I will conclude by saying it is NOT worth the money and it is NOT worth the risk to donate here. There are plenty of other safer facilities out there to donate. I am making this recommendation with over 10 years of medical experience, because I have seen firsthand how things like this can easily become catastrophic. read more
