Harry's Side Bar and Harry's Steakhouse are New York institutions. Since 1972 Harry's has been a legendary haunt in the Wall Street area of Lower Manhattan.
It's the place where movers and shakers go to make things happen. It's also the perfect spot for an elevated experience in a warm and welcoming environment.
If you like a refined old school steakhouse this is your place. The service and food are excellent and the cocktails are exactly the excellent quality you'd expect from a fine steakhouse.
The Martinis and Manhattans we ordered came with a side caddy with your extra cocktail in a carafe on ice. It doesn't get more spoiled than that (Photo # 3).
Their specialty cocktails were much more creative than I've seen at your typical steakhouse. I had a lovely scotch cocktail called Ross-Shire Fizz (photo# 1). It was perfectly well-balanced for a complex whiskey cocktail served over a large cube. The funky spin is it was topped with champagne (hence the fizz). It was excellent.
Ross-Shire Fizz
Glenmorangie 10 yr Scotch
Giffard Banana Liqueur
Apple
Aperol
Mole Bitters
Topped with Ruinart Champagne
There is a separate bar called Harry's Sidebar around the corner. We started our evening there before heading to Harry's for dinner. It's a beautiful space with fun iconic art. They had me when one of the first things I saw was a fun piece showing the Rat Pack boys cocktailing and having a blast (Photo # 5).
This old New York haunt doesn't disappoint so hit the Financial District next time you're in NYC. You'll love it. Salute. read more
