Great location at 5 points plaza within the Trader Joe strip.
Wow this place was busy for a Tuesday lunch. Probably because the food is so good!
My friend had lunch combo A with chicken teriyaki & tempura. She shared with her grandson. They both enjoyed it! This was her second time here. So she must have enjoyed the first time to recommend it again!
Decided to switch my order to the sashimi salad after seeing it delivered to the adjacent table. Great move. Piles of mixed spring lettuce, edamame, carrots lightly dressed in the usual Japanese salad dressing (rice vinegar, touch of lemon juice, soy sauce, ginger). Topped with a variety of sashimi (salmon, hamachi, tuna). Visually very appealing plus it tasted great. Not overly dressed. Glad I ordered this.
Our 2 meals did arrive about 5-10 mins apart though. Since I had a salad, I just waited for her combo to arrive.
Unlike most Japanese restaurants, your green tea will arrive in a tall mug. Got a bit cool toward the bottom of the cup, however I'd rather drink it this way. Unless a pot is served with tea, the traditional tea cups are small & will typically need several refills. True green tea drinkers may balk, but who wants to wave down the staff for more tea!
Which brings me to the 5 downgrade rating to 4. Yes it was fairly busy. Maybe 3/4 full. Asked an adjacent table who was a regular whether they only had one server? No, she said there were 3. Well...where were they? We're 2 helping in the back kitchen? We sat for a bit after getting seated with our menus. Maybe 10? 15? minutes pass. Finally waved down a server as they delivered food to another table. Once they figure out a better system with assigned tables I expect service to improve. Cuz right now, service needs a lot of help.
An expediter or maybe more staff training. read more
