I asked for a quote for unloading by a POD. I told them that we needed the whole pod unloaded and that there were several heavy items. They asked me to list out the items that were bulky and I did. They provided a competitive quote but not hundreds of dollars cheaper than other local moving companies. They quoted me a block of time and that two of people would come do the job. When the movers arrived, they were 30 minutes late and they told us it was their first time "using the app". They were very small people and did not have any gloves or moving tools with them. I began to worry as they took our mattress and were barely able to lift it and stopped to rest, placing it on the ground. It was in a bag but they barely went 20 feet and had to stop. Apparently this "app" employs "movers" like Lyft or instacart, no training or qualifications needed. They struggled with the rest of our heavy items and had to take pictures of everything before and after moving it. This ate into our time. They also told me they were only supposed to move the items I listed out. I began to panic as I am pregnant and hired them to move what I no longer can. In order to get to the items we listed, I did in fact begin to carry boxes inside and make room for them to get to the items that I absolutely could not move. When they reached the largest item, an ikea cube block, they told me that they wouldn't be able to move it for me. I contacted the manager and they went back and forth on the phone asking to hired movers to get their friends to help them. This also ate into our time but that didn't matter since they were refusing to move most of the items as they were not listed. My husband and I had moved some items inside the home before they arrived to help make more room in the pod for them to work, well, some of those items had been listed as bulky so we did that part of their job for them! After the movers were unable to get friends to help them with the last piece, the company reluctantly told me they would send someone else to finish the job. Later that evening two large men arrived, wearing gloves and had obvious loving experience. They easily moved our cubes upstairs for us. We tipped them because they did a great job and were what we were expecting from a moving service. I will not call on Haultail again. The whole experience was exhausting and I put in so much physical work that I shouldn't have had to do, especially for the money we paid. I'm giving two stars because the men who showed up in the evening were the real deal but the two small movers during the day don't even deserve one star. read more
