It's just not summer without bbq. I was visiting and looking for a place in Winchester and found Hog it Up. It's a Texas style bbq and bar where they make everything themselves except for the pickles according to the owner Mike. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fries and tried all 3 bbq sauces. Sooo good! The brisket was tender and flavorful. The baby back bbq sauce was my favorite, just a classic flavor. South Carolina bbq was delicious as well. The bourbon style was a bit syrupy and sweet for me but still had a nice flavor.
The decor was Texas eclectic and the music playing was classic country which created an inviting space with an authentic atmosphere. There was a television screen at the bar. The seating was comfortable though the high tables at the front window were a bit small to fit all the food. There are bigger tables on the other side near the counter.
The owner was friendly and shared how he renovated the place himself over 10 months working every day, raised and replaced the ceiling, redid plumbing and electric and decorated it himself. He also has a Food truck business.
