IKEA in the Tinsley area of Sheffield is one of the newer stores in the UK for the major Swedish DIY chain, it opened towards the end of 2017 / start of 2018 and is in a great location, probably the best location I've seen for an IKEA, just minutes away on the Supertram from Sheffield city centre, or just one stop away from the huge Meadowhall Shopping Centre. This IKEA is also built right next to Carbrook Supertram Stop, meaning it is one of the easiest IKEA branches to get to via public transport I'm aware of. So, the UK's 20th IKEA store makes a great start for visitors but sadly that's where it ends. I find this branch to be far too complicated to navigate and at times it is pretty dangerous, from arriving on the Supertram you have to go through the exposed and Undercover car park, with no direct walking route meaning you have to play dodgeball with the cars, which I really don't like. I understand most of the customer base will be using cars because of the nature of the products IKEA sell, of course being flatpack furniture but that's no excuse for being so poor for commuters on foot, who have come on the tram for example, after all why go to all effort to promote the brand with their own Supertram stop with the IKEA branding "next stop IKEA", to have this? After getting into the store, it isn't too much better as you basically have to enter multiple lifts to get into the store, from the car park, and then to multiple "showrooms", again there is no help or signs saying which floor to go to for what in certain areas, which left me confused, perplexed and extremely frustrated, little did I know my frustration had only begun and was going to go on, and on. After eventually finding the Restauraunt and Cafe, which felt like I'd gone through a maze backwards, I later found out they offered virtually nothing gluten-free, after queuing up for a few minutes I was re-directed to an electronic tablet and basically left to suffer and work things out on my own, despite having a gluten-free option, I had to select each type of food meat/fish/sides separately, and nothing came up, meaning I had to change the option to cereals again. - I don't understand why no one even offered to help me or explain the process, rather than being like "there you go bye" - Perhaps they want their customer service to match Sweden's performance in the World Cup - dreadful, albeit I loved watching Sweden suffer and England went on to knock them out of the competition with a 2-0 victory. The store its-self was hard to navigate in terms of finding what you want, they did have some nice items but again there were no staff members on the shop floor, meaning hungry and tired I couldn't find the exit. A modern, new IKEA in an amazing location which makes a store which could get a very high rating suffer dramatically, I hate to say this being excited to visit this store for the first time, having only visited on IKEA branch before in Ashton, but this store is worthy of a one-star rating. read more
