I made the mistake of looking at yelp for a menu first. The prices on Yelp were much, much lower than what they were in the actual cafe. So my expectations on the pricing was skewed. After the sticker shock set in, I remembered that we went through a pandemic inflation followed by the inflation from a foreign war and regular inflation in the span of a couple of years. I went to the Java Cafe on South Kihei Road for some waffles and avocado toast to share with my wife and kid. The price was nearly double what is listed on Yelp. I ordered to go, so my experience with the service was limited to the order placement and pickup, which was pleasant. The staff was nice and friendly and place was clean and cozy. There was happy music playing on their radio at a comfortable volume. All the breakfast treats on display looked fresh and delicious. And the presentation (even in a to go container) was top notch. My experience with place was good, just keep in mind we've gone through multiple inflations in the span of a short time and workers still need to be paid a living wage. My intentions with this post was just to give people an update of the prices so sticker shock doesn't come as a surprise to others. read more
