Just had the weirdest interaction with the two girls working the front... 12:40 pm I came in super happy to get a matcha since I read reviews on here saying they made good lattes. Right after I ordered it about 30 seconds later the girl making the drink slams it down on the counter and it's practically just milk with a tiny bit of matcha. Looked white almost. It was like she tried to make it as fast as possible even though there was no one else in line. I genuinely was confused since I didn't do anything to make them treat me that way. I kindly asked if they could make it a little stronger and they say "yeah" and just grab it and turn around as if I'm asking for something crazy. I'm not sure why they had such nasty attitudes. I also had ordered a bagel but I told them to just cancel since the matcha came out horrible as well and didn't want to pay $25 for bad matcha and food. I'm not sure if this was just my lucky experience of the day or what but I wouldn't recommend coming here. ESPECIALLY if you want an actual decent matcha or nice customer service. read more

Java Coffee has hands-down the best pastries I've had in Maui. They don't have a huge selection, but every single one is incredibly delicious -- flavorful, flaky, and clearly made with care. Came here because it as waking distance from my Airbnb. It's perfectly placed across from a gym if you need a shake after. Oatmeal looks amazing but it was just ok It felt like the peanut butter and cinnamon dominated the taste but it was good. A ton of fruits and nuts in it. This place was the first stop for coffee the morning after arrival. We walkes there early just as they opened. Nice and bright with plenty of seatings. I got an iced macadamia latte. But the pastry display caught my eye. I got the passion fruit croissant and it was fluffy inside and flaky. There was also adequate filling as well. I was expecting a stale pastry but this was beyond my expectations. They get them from a local bakery . I went back in to get a nutella croissant and it had lotis nutella and a ferrero chocolate on it. I will be back to get another a hot drink with another pastry. read more

Cute coffee place! We usually come here on Sundays after 12 for a late breakfast. The Egg Sandwich is so yummy! My favorite. They also have a variety of croissants and pastries. My go to is Lilikoi. I ask for it warmed up. They have good Mochas and Matcha Green Tea hot or cold. My son likes the Might Manny Protein Shake. Seating available inside or outside. I always knew about Java Cafe, but I never really thought to stop by. Last year, I finally visited the shop on a whim and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! The first thing I noticed was the really cute swing right as you walk in. It's perfect for that social worthy snap. I was also surprised to find that the shop is way more spacious than I imagined with a high ceiling, an ample amount of tables, and an outdoor patio area. Overall, the space is really cute, clean, and would be a great place to do remote work as they offer free wifi. They have a wide and varied menu that offers a laundry list of coffee options that includes hot drinks, cold drinks, and blended drinks. There's also a lot of hearty breakfast options of sandwiches, toasts, wraps, waffles, and more. Their fresh baked goods are sourced from local bakeries like Maui Bread and Momona Bakery -- both stellar bakeries, in my opinion. If you see the pretzel croissant (from Maui Bread) or the dulce de leche croissant (from Momona), snag those babies up! As for coffee, the thai mocha piqued my interest during my second visit and let me tell you, I have been OBSESSED with it ever since! I haven't seen it on any other coffee shop menu and I just love it. Even with the addition of condensed milk, it's not too sweet at all and it's become on of my favorite coffees on island. The egg sandwich with spinach, sliced avocado, and cheese on a toasted english muffin is also mighty delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this coffee shop if you're in the Kihei area! Sad to say I am a Starbucks girly, BUT visiting Maui I stopped by Java Cafe and can I say! I wish they would replace Starbucks lol simply the best! Walked in and greeted by the sweetest girls behind the counter, suggested the absolutely fire drink! I ended up stopping each day of our stay. My husband was obsessed too. What was great: This place is great coffee and great food. Good music. They offer everything breakfast to smoothies to delicious pastries. My mom loved her avocado toast on gluten free bread. I got black coffee which was very good. Happy about that! Fun little powders to put in your coffee too. The location is near the drug store and some other tourist type places you may want to go to like the snorkel store. What we didn't like: My sandwich was microscopic because I got gluten free. The bread I expect to be small but they only put one small sliver of lox on it. That was disappointing. I usually received two pieces of lox on an order. I get things are more expensive here tho and that could be why. My dad got the breakfast special which didn't have cheese on it , it was just ham egg on bread no sauce. Overall I think we'd return and order other things. Definitely return for coffee with that 20% coupon we found on Yelp. The baristas didn't know about it but we were happy they honored it. Everyday we were here we went in for a chocolate cold brew at least once a day..... maybe even twice but we are on vacation so who is counting. Service was very friendly and welcoming.
