I rarely leave reviews unless prompted. To be clear, I was not asked to write one in this case. But I felt the experience to be so great, that I just had to share.
I was stranded in Boston today (1/25/26) at this hotel during the winter storm. I ate two meals at this restaurant, with the same two male servers helping me both times. On my receipt, I see one of the servers' names is listed as Begolli. I don't know the other gentleman's name. But I want to leave my highest compliments for both of their outstanding service. They went out of their way to make me feel taken care of, and they were extremely kind, helpful, charming, friendly, courteous, and funny. And every time I looked up, my water glass was completely full. They were so on top of the littlest things. I have an infinite amount of nice things to say about them.
PS - after over a decade of working in restaurants, I've found the mark of a great one to be the smell/taste of the water glasses. Sometimes if the dishwasher isn't clean, glassware can smell like wet dog. They nailed it at Off the Common! Clean, crisp, refreshing!
Also, the food was extraordinary. Candidly, I wasn't expecting much from a generic hotel restaurant. But I was blown away- from the creamy clam chowder to the giant mouthful of lobster. They even somehow got me to enjoy lentils with the salmon dish.
This was an 11 out of 10 experience. Thank you, Off the Common team! read more
