I remarked recently that not long ago, I had never heard of birria. Now it's everywhere. Apparently it's not a nationwide phenomenon, more a local one. I don't know.
Anyway, here we have another new taco shop in town, this one also offering, among more standards items, birria tacos, burrito and a quesadilla, which I opted for.
- QuesaBirria: a fairly large quesadilla cut into quarters and served with the usual tub of dipping sauce (au jus). Pretty tasty.
- Side of pinto beans: I like beans with my Mexican food and Papi Chulo's are solid although maybe not the tastiest in town.
Prices are reasonable, service is quick. I don't know it for a fact but I believe Papi Chulo's is affiliated with River Pig Saloon, which is next door at the Box Factory. Same owner and kitchen talent anyway. As with the other establishments in this row of the Box Factory, along with some inside seating, there's a nice patio area. Liquor license pending (so maybe the River Pig affiliation is the way to go there). read more
