Banana with Almond Nut Brittle and Fleur de Sel Carmel Sauce, Sophie's Stem Ginger, Thick Cut Seville Orange Marmelade Ripple, Cardamom & Lemon...I don't know about you, but I get a "literary hard-on" just reading through the list of exotic and unusual flavours here at Ruby Violet.
Having lived in San Francisco for a long time and seeing the ice-cream revolution taking of there, I would say that for me Ruby Violet is the Bi-Rite Ice Cream of London (the latter being the place where I lost my salted-caramel virginity). It's hip and trendy, but the folks in here are very down-to-earth at the same time. When I last was here, I saw all kinds of people flocking here: little kids with their daddy, the young couple on a romantic date, the hipster with the horn-rimmed glasses...and me with my dog!
This is the kind of place I would make a detour for...even in the winter. It's really good. read more
