I hired Southern Contracting to install a steel beam and foundation footer in my home to replace a load bearing wall. I had quotes from 4 different companies (including the one that did the engineering work). While Southern Contracting was not the lowest price, they were very competitive and the knowledge Jeff was able to provide made me feel much more confident moving forward with their company. They were significantly lower than the contracting arm of the engineering company. Also, they were on time with their schedule and finished sooner than expected which is always a nice surprise in a renovation. Over the following 3 months, the house settled about 3/4" which I was concerned about correcting prior to installing the new hardwood floors. Jeff came out, inspected it, and developed a plan to take care of it under the warranty. They even followed up with me proactively to get the touch-up scheduled! I would highly recommend requesting a quote and selecting them for structural work - I plan on hiring them again myself someday when it is time to take down walls on the other side of our house. read more
