i'm glad i brought my dad here for his early birthday. ヾ(´`*)ノ
Sashimi for 2:
contains tuna, salmon, salmon roe, amberjack, stripe jack, scallop, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, flounder, and squid. Bright and clean platter with lots of thick cuts. I think the main difference from this and the "sashimi platter" might be the sweet shrimp and raw scallop. It's a shame that I love raw scallop, because my wallet hurts.
Appetizer/sides:
Salmon nigiri appetizer on top of that lemon wedge is my go-to when impressing guests. it is such a pleasure to see the show.
The miso soup is okay, salad is crunchy but equal measures basic. Deep fried soft shell crab was mid and i had high hopes.
Ambience:
Again, bright and clean. Good to recommend to people who are visiting, particularly if you're blending casual with class. Their location is also in the heart of a great restaurant plaza.
Service is ok -- extremely kind people, but below average at tailoring to your needs. Sometimes feels understaffed. The servers recommend rolls they haven't tried before, which causes snafus. I ask what specific rolls taste like, which ones are personal favorites, and get an ingredient list or "the popular choices." This makes it very discouraging to explore.
ROLLS:
There are so many options that it's (So Exciting) and a little obscene.
(Dislike:) That chopped tuna/salmon purée ingredient on top of the rolls is not my favorite. I'm sorry, but it's terrible. I asked our two servers to omit any rolls or substitute it out, but they didn't know enough to assist me at the time. So I always end up with it in front of me, reluctantly giving it another chance. Despite the lovely descriptions, I'm skipping the "salmon lover," "lady killer," and "what a match." The "salmon/tuna ninja" and "scorpion" are sorta exceptions because the seared fish gives it a wonderful texture.
Additionally, the Viagra roll did not meet my hopes and dreams. It was like a rice-and-mushroom stir fry with shrimp and masago. i got tired of the taste.
(Liked) "Mafia" and "Osaka Triangle" rolls. Also the "Kevin Bacon" if you wanna try something absolutely chaotic. "Dynamite" for something less crazy. Those have a lot going on. "Flying Dragon" is a fun healthy eel roll. The deep fried rolls -- particularly the cheese-flavored "Hot Stuff" -- are also surprisingly good. read more
