Shout out to a food content creator local to NoVA for recommending the space as one of her favorites. I do think that the prices are a little higher. But I did enjoy the quality of each meal. I am a huge sashimi lover. So we ordered the sashimi deluxe, and I thought that was pretty worth it. Added a special roll for those who get hungrier. My dad did order the Japanese katsu. Breading wasn't his favorite, but we thought that the meat inside was pretty juicy. Needed a quick bite to eat after being in the area all day and decided to finally give Sushi Cho a try. The place is small and inviting. Parking can be busy on a weekend but I lucked up and found one immediately. I was greeted and seated immediately. Everyone on the staff from the host to the server to the sushi chef were absolutely great. My server, Kevin, went above and beyond after I explained that I had some fatigue and needed a little help with the menu, especiallywith there being 100 specialty rolls. He recommended the Mafia Roll and it was sooooo good and filling! A lot bigger than I expected it to be but that was a good thing! I loved the presentation and the sushi was so fresh! I also ordered a house salad and a hand roll to hold me over. The hand roll was massive and absolutely delish! I experienced them for the first time in L A. and have been looking for ones just as good here in the area and this one was the best I've found thus far! This is one of my go-to restaurants. I have been here time and time again and it is truly difficult to get sick of this place when there are 100 specialty rolls and so much more on the menu. Their bathroom was nice too. Hot stuff roll - I was super surprised with how much I enjoyed their roll with its mozzarella and the coconut like bits. Would recommend for a crispy, cheesy roll. Came on a friday night around 7. The parking lot is rectangular gets busy during prime dinner hours. This shopping center has a great selection of restaurants and we were craving sushi. The place was packed and busy! We had a reservation for 7pm but there was about 10-15min wait since it was busy. The restaurant seems kind of small but they segment blocks within that make it a little bit more appealing. We were sat in the back near the bar and restroom. I forgot our servers name but he was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and any questions we had. We started with the seared salmon and the presentation was awesome! They ignited it at the table and let it sear on its own. It was melt in your mouth deliciousness. We got a sushi platter as well as a few rolls. Come by, you won't be disappointed:) read more

Interesting place. The wood choice and color theme remind me of Japan. It's run by Koreans, though. The staff is friendly and attentive. The decoration works. The takoyaki was quite good. The bonito flakes were rather too much. The taste was amazing, though. Be sure to give it some time to cool down or take smaller bites. I'm always eager to pop the entire takoyaki ball as soon as it comes, and always regret burning my tongue. Yet, I keep doing it. I came with a friend and went for the sashimi bowl for two. It was a mixed experience for a mixed bowl. Some fish I liked, some not so much. I will probably stick to the ones I like next time. This isn't any fault of the restaurant. I tried something I hadn't had before and found out what I didn't like. From my experience, it's hard to go wrong with basic sashimi like salmon, tuna, fatty tuna, etc., but some special fish, scallops, uni, etc., are hard to get right unless you're at an expensive omakase restaurant. We ordered chicken karage which was delicious - perfectly fried and the spicy sauce (chef kiss). I ordered salmon ninja without the avocado and it was so filling (nicely sized pieces and a lot). Had a delectable meal, starting wit TNT mussels and Hama Wasa "sushi taco" (aka a hand roll). I then had the Triple Threat roll, and Bae got the Seafood and California rolls (he's less "adventurous" than I am). When we were wrapping up, Chef sent over this incredible yellowtail, topped with guac and coconut flakes - and it was set ablaze tableside . 10/10 no notes. Oft cited as a top sushi place in the area, Sushi Cho piqued my wife's interest. Recently postpartum and on a huge sushi kick, she and I have been making our way through most of the well rated sushi restaurants within a 30 minute drive from our home. We visited Sushi Cho for an early Friday dinner. By the time we left around 7, patrons nearly filled the dining room, so consider reservations on the weekends. We quickly ordered an assortment of rolls, two sushi "tacos," and a small selection of nigiri. The rolls occupy most of the menu, and Sushi Cho indeed boasts 100 specialty maki options ranging from deep fried and sauce laden to simple and fresh. We opted for selections that leaned towards the latter, and found the slices of fish clean and generously portioned. The flavor combinations worked well and the rolls stayed intact throughout service. I can see why this place is so popular on the merit of the rolls alone. The sushi "tacos" represent a take on the classic hand roll. While the flavor combinations and seafood quality in both the spicy scallop and wasabi yellowtail varieties shone, we found the eating experience a bit unwieldy despite our server's careful instruction. Do not attempt to share them lest you turn your taco into a burrito bowl. Finally, our nigiri pieces had generously portioned and well cut portions of fresh fish. The rice seasoning and texture, however, failed to impress us. We felt that the nigiri here is an afterthought as only the very standard varieties of fish were on offer. We love more esoteric fin and shellfish, so seeing only tuna, salmon, and other classics disappointed. In contrast, a highlight of the meal was the service. Staff consistently checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. We received multiple bites on the house including a delicious morsel of chopped toro with scallion. The ambiance of the place feels a little more clean and sleek than the typical neighborhood sushi restaurant. Despite the strip mall location, parking here is a little rough due to limited and small spots. Prices here feel fair, as the cuts of fish are ample and the rolls are very filling despite having a restrained quantity of rice. While the search continues for quality nigiri, we will definitely return to Sushi Cho for great rolls and friendly service. read more

Wanted to update and add more photos of the food, since this is still one of my favorite sushi places in NOVA! Their fish is always fresh and high-quality with clean taste. Most recently, we ordered the sashimi for 2, seared salmon belly, and scallop sashimi appetizer. Service is still spectacular. The employees make sure our cups were always filled with hot tea (especially important on those cold winter days). At the end of our lunch, the chef brought us complimentary seared yellowtail, a twist to their seared salmon belly. One thing I will say is that the middle tables in the restaurant can get pretty chilly with the breeze whenever someone opens the door. I would recommend going earlier to see if you could be seated along the wall or area that's tucked in. read more

serene atmosphere with japandi interior design with very respectful and attentive staff lunch complimentary miso soup and salad: the soup had an umami base with more depth of flavor compared to other complimentary miso soups I've had. salmon nachos: salmon sashimi, thinly sliced apple, and spicy tuna all on top of a caramelized scorched rice toffee and deep fried seaweed chip everything balanced each other very well, the salmon cut wasn't stringy making it easy for multiple bites however if you're not a fan of scorched rice or very hard things I would choose something else. My partner and I loved absolutely loved the play on textures. It reminded me of the korean dish that serves scorched rice, nurunji sushi sashimi combo with 1 roll: all the sashimi slices were perfect and super fresh, each nigiri had a little wasabi that tasted different than the typical horseradish wasabi (almost sweet?) lunch chirashi: tiny tier lower fish cuts but because they are very fresh and delicious slices it's still better quality than other sushi places I've been to on the house: yellowtail "something-something", I forgot the name of it but they flambé'd it and it was a terrific ending experience for our quick lunch stop!! We didn't have a reservation, for two people on a Saturday night the wait was about 15 minutes which was not bad at all. I really like the ambiance of the store, looked very organized and traditionally on theme for a sushi restaurant. The staff were very friendly. We ordered three rolls: Chesapeake Bay, Dynamite, and What a Match. We also ordered an appetizer, Seared Salmon Belly. Our favorite of the three rolls was the Chesapeake Bay which has fried oyster in it! The Seared Salmon Belly is a must order appetizer. It looks like the other yelpers agree with me too. These guys have hundreds of roll options, which my family loved, even if I was not sold on it -- I find the rolls are too big to eat properly, and that Sushi Cho is trying to stuff too much into one piece. The Bonsai roll (salmon and spicy salmon) tasted good, but I'm not a big fan of replacing sushi and/or seaweed wrap with cucumber. The Flying Dragon Roll didn't quite work for me, since the eel was a bit dry (maybe it just needed a little more sauce). My family loved the Mafia Roll and the Tropic Thunder Roll, but especially the White Love From Russia, which was three different types of fish egg with a quail egg on top. The quality of the fish eggs was top notch and the quail egg made for a nice sauce to bring out their best qualities. My wife described it as a flight of caviar. Lastly, they comp'ed us the seared salmon belly, which is lit on fire and looks cool, and tastes very nice. As you can see, my wife and daughter love Sushi Cho, so we will be back, and I will try some more basic sushi and sashimi next time to properly evaluate the restaurant, since I suspect it is worth 5 stars instead of 4. read more

Everything we got was OUTSTANDING! We got 3 rolls, the lobster in paradise roll, the green dragon roll, and the kevin bacon roll. The lobster in paradise roll is a must try! Our order also came with a miso soup and house salad with ginger dressing, which were both good as well. We also got the crab wonton and it was much larger than expected, but truly a wonderful surprise and filled with lots of crab and topped with an amazing sauce! I was rocking this fantastic headache during dining here and wasn't sure how much I'd be able to eat while here. my kids loved the miso soup here & drank it all. my daughter typically only eats salmon rolls and when they brought out the sushi tacos, my daughter wanted one for herself, but a salmon version. after talking with the waitress, she was able to get us a sushi taco with just a huge slice of salmon on it. my daughter loved it! the sushi here was fresh & my SO mentioned this place reminds him of Takumi out in Falls Church. the uni from Japan was so freaking good. there was no bitter after taste and was just so sweet. On top of the fiasco, the sushi isn't as fresh or tasty, anymore. I got the Jay roll and Seven Colors of the Rainbow roll this time, and they were really bad. They added too many ingredients into the rolls - it was super overwhelming and hard to eat. It seemed like they just mashed up a bunch of things into one roll without thinking about if the ratios or combinations would make sense. Even without all the toppings, the quality of the fish has gone drastically down. I'm never coming back and do not recommend Sushi Cho, anymore. read more

I love light wooded decor/furniture, and this place had that. Honestly we were in the area and were super hungry. We saw this place as we were driving and I'm glad we stumbled upon this spot. Avoid the same mistake that I did with my family; our estimated 45 minute wait became an hour and a half until we were seated. It wasn't anyones' fault, it is a small restaurant and each reservation comes with a grace period before they can forgo the seat to the next party on the list. This place has been on our list for a long time, and we were so excited to check it out yesterday. We ordered the 32 pcs from the chef's special platter. We end up liking the nigiri more than the sashimi. The sushi rice was great and in good proportion with the seafood. We were also surprised by how good the spicy tuna roll tasted. A good chunk of meat and has a nice flavor. We ended the night with a complimentary salmon roll and a nice little show as shown in the video. You can order a la carte, although that was not given to us automatically. We had to ask for the paper menu to mark our orders. The fish to rice ratio was great, they gave a decent size of fish per nigiri. The house hand roll was delicious as well. I didn't expect all the fish to be chopped up like ground meat though. At the end, they gave us matcha ice cream on the house and I thought that was a nice touch! There was a guy that filled up our tea very promptly and that was great because typically, we never get refills at places like this. I appreciate they were on top of it with a kettle!
