I am mid-move as I write this, meaning that my items are still on their truck. I hope for an amicable resolution but I'm not optimistic considering my experience with customer service so far.
This company charges based on volume (Cubic foot). I received a quote for my household move estimating 736 cubic feet. The final pack increased to a shocking 986 cubic feet increasing my price by nearly 50%. When I looked at the pack on the truck it looked good with a floor to ceiling efficient pack (see first photo). But when I looked behind the false wall, there was TONS of wasted space. (see second photo... for reference, the round red container on the left is 2 feet wide).
I explained to the movers that I was not comfortable with this and was basically told "too bad, that's how trucks are packed" which I know not to be the case. When I said I would call customer service the mover attempted to negotiate but was only willing to remove 50 cubic feet which is only a fraction of the space I see there. I said I was still uncomfortable with this and he stated that I could negotiate that with the moving company after we were done. I also noted on the contract that I would be contacting the moving company to adjust the number.
When I then spoke to customer service two days later (since they did not return contact from the email I sent that day with photos and an explanation) they were rude, combative, continued to interrupt me while speaking, never fully listened to my complaint, and completely dismissive of my concerns.
Between the movers trying to hide wasted space behind a false wall, and telling me I could negotiate/adjust knowing full well that customer service is going to say I should have done it sooner... this is FRAUD. Plain and simple.
On the positive side of things, they did treat my items with care and wrapped the furniture well, but that doesn't justify an intentional padding of space when charges are based on cubic feet. read more
