Originally I gave this company a 1-star review. I am updating my review as the company's management ultimately took care of me. It is important to note that national level moving companies will subcontract with smaller local companies to pick up your goods. I was cheated on space by the local company, "A.E.Movers" to the tune of about 225sq/ft or about $1,500. At first, I did receive difficulty with customer service but in retrospect, this is partially my fault. The best advice I can give anyone working with a moving company is "IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH ANY PHASE OF THE MOVE, STOP AND CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT ASSUME YOU CAN FOLLOW UP AFTER THE LOCAL COMPANY HAS LEFT." That was my mistake. If I had called customer service while the local company was still on site, I could have negotiated the situation better and not fallen into the trap that the local company set. Ultimately, Always Moving not only refunded me a fair amount of the overcharge, but they also terminated their agreement with A.E.Movers ensuring that this situation will not occur with future customers. The final delivery of my good was smooth and friendly... and everything arrived in good condition. My Rating - negative 10. Before I Start, If Anyone is Tight on Budget, don't fall for these people. They'll completely suck out your money. Please read everything till the end. Moved from Georgia! Long distance of 1000+ miles Ok so let's start with how we got to pick them for our moving: We first called another company called dependable, they gave is a quote. We said we'll get back. It took a while to get back and meanwhile from nowhere these "Always" guys called us. Immediately after hanging up the call dependable company lady called and vouched for these people saying they are great and the estimation they gave us was great price. Now that we are done with the move we are sure that the so called dependable lady was part of the scam. Next comes estimation and finally what we ended up paying. We gave them every damn detail about our move. Including number of boxes and furniture and what kind of furniture and we even confirmed if they will disassemble and reassemble all the needed to do furniture. And they did confirm that they'll do everything. We only had to pack everything else into boxes. Once we got the confirmation we finalized them & they made us pay deposit 30% of initial estimate. They even gave us a NAME SAKE discount. Now comes the day of move: A guys comes, checks the house and furniture and boxed etc. After everything, he says that furniture packing is going to be charged (According to him, this was the discount that we got and in return we had to pack our own furniture, which was never mentioned). As I said earlier, they gave us a confirmation that they'll be doing furniture packing. Now, after that forcable acceptance of the new price (Or we'd loose our deposit), they loaded our stuff into truck. This is where the biggest shock came. He said after loading everything it took more space, and it was what they expected. They should have given us the expected space estimation and not for lesser space. Now what did the price turn into, WOOOOOOOOOW, 70% AMOUNT MORE THAN INITIAL ESTIMATE. We couldn't back out, one because of the deposit and two because it was already move date and also it's way harder to get another movers especially during quarantine. We ended up again forcibly accepting the new price. Drained out everything we had. Finally when the truckers came to our new place, OH GOD, I was horrified looking at the condition of our boxes. Most are squished and those that are clearly taped "Fragile" had more damage. Furniture is all scratched up. After charging so much beyond estimation, the movers that came to unload asked for more money. We definitely did not give them anymore but SHAME ON YOU. They even refused to reassemble the furniture. This is the worst experience I ever had in the US. I seriously wish there's a negative ratings possibility. #Google should look into it read more

I wish I could give a negative star. If you hire this business you are screwed. First- the long carry fee. Why is it okay to charge clients an extra 70 dollars per foot for every 50 feet traveled. I live in an partaken building that has a loading dock near and an elevator but because the truck couldn't fit in the dock due to size they charged me an EXTRA 300 dollars. Wait you want to find out where your truck is? Dispatch is absolutely useless. I called everyday to find out where my stuff was. THEY COULDNT EVEN TELL ME. Barbara, Jeremy and Kate in customer service and dispatch are the most useless people I've ever met. They legit have no idea where the truck is and according to them the truck never checks in with dispatch.... how is it possible for a huge company to run this way. My experience with this company was so ridiculous and it's a long story, but I'll keep this short: The movers added a bunch of extra fees AFTER loading up my furniture onto their truck. And once they arrived to the new house, they sat outside for hours waiting for the rest of payment, all while adding on extra fees for each hour they were sitting out there. My boyfriend was in constant contact with customer service and with moving dispatch and they kept telling him to call the other department to get things sorted out. My boyfriend finally just went to the bank to pay them the remainder of the bill with cash. So after about 5 hours of waiting, the movers unloaded the truck. After they had left, I noticed that our desk was not assembled correctly and it had significant damage on it. The center drawer no longer fits and the corner of it is chipped. Screws were coming out of the top on one side and the other side wasn't even screwed down. There was also a very obvious dent. Most of these damages are in the pictures I added. The company was so unhelpful during the entire process, so I don't know what else to do other than write reviews. Just avoid this company. Even if you get a decent quote upfront, you'll end up being charged way more for terrible service. read more

We sincerely hope this would not be happening to anyone in Charlottesville, or, more broadly, anyone, period! When searching for moving companies online, we found a seemingly-reasonably-priced company called Always Moving INC (DOT License number 3110074). We booked them on October 1, 2019 for a full packing service from Pasadena, CA to Charlottesville VA, scheduled to be picked up on December 14, 2019. The sales person Brendan Martin was very enthusiastic, and told us they charge by cubic footage on the truck. We went over our room by room all our furniture, and he estimated that we would need 871cf for the move, and would cost around $4645. He also mentioned that the trip would take 7-17 actual days. My family were very happy that this huge task was booked, and payed the $1625 deposit. We even planned a trip for a week to Hawaii right after the moving date so that we can have a relaxing vacation waiting for our furniture and clothing to arrive in our new home. Little did we know that it was the beginning of a long long nightmare! Three days before the moving day of Dec 14, 2019, their "Quality Assurance Team" called us to confirm our moving volume, and we went through everything again, confirming it to be around the same amount. My wife was worried that she needed a few more boxes for clothing, but it shouldn't change the actual volume by that much. Then come moving day, and the movers came in and told us we have 1475 cf of items, almost doubling our initial estimate! We were shocked and stressed, but had to agree to pay $4000 more, totaling $8995! In any case, we had no choice but to accept their terms, as it's impossible to find anther moving company right before we leave town.  Our family went on with the Hawaii vacation the next day, and came back to our house in Charlottesville on Dec 22, 2019, expecting our furniture to arrive soon before the New Year. We called Always Moving up, and their customer service people told us it hasn't even been shipped from California yet! They would only ship after the New Years when they could find a driver to do so! With a toddler at home, we all slept on a floor mattress until after the New Years, when a new bed we ordered from a store arrived. We waited patiently until after New Years to call them again, and they confirmed that it would be shipped on the next truck to the east coast on Jan 6, which we would be the first delivery destination. Two days later, when we ringed them up again, they changed that we would be the second on that truck, right after a delivery in Colorado. The driver would be calling us a few days after that. We waited for another week, and were starting to get very anxious. They told us it would be delivered during the weekend of Jan 11-12, but there was no call from the driver. We started calling the customer service everyday, wanting to make sure that it arrives before my mother-in-law leaving for China (she kindly came over to help us taking care of the baby and moving) on Jan 19. Always Moving started pushing back the dates further and further every day, and finally, the estimated date went beyond Jan 19 and we had to change my mother-in-law's ticket back to China. As it was near lunar new year in China, the tickets were very expensive, and Always Moving said they would only cover the changing fee of about $250, but would do nothing about the difference in old and new ticket prices! After many arguments with them, the driver finally scheduled to deliver our stuff on the afternoon of Jan 19, more than a full month after the moving date! We had to foot the bill of thousands of dollars of changing my mother-in-law's ticket.  Recently, an online search shows that this company is doing this overcharging and cheating again and again. I hope the DOT can regulate and punish such bad behavior, as it ruins the market for honest movers by cheating customers into their business, and disrupts people's lives so badly. THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE Let's start with the day they came to pick up our things. We moved from NYC to WA state. I was told by quality assurance to make SURE you receive an inventory list. When Alex from their NJ storage facility came to package our things, he REFUSED to provide us a carbon copy which he did have. After arguing, he allowed us a PICTURE. This was on November 10th. Then, on November 26th, I called for an update of where our things were. I was told, by Marcus, our things were STILL in the NJ facility and they could not provide an update as to when it would be picked up and the last update NJ gave central was November 16th. I call back later that day and spoke to a female and she told me NOT to expect my things until the second week of December. Fast forward to THANKSGIVING MORNING TWO DAYS LATER, November 28th. I receive a call from their dispatch stating he will be coming the next morning. I asked him "how is this possible when I was told two days ago my things were still in storage across the country?." He replied, "Your things were delivered to the west coast over a week ago." The next morning, I travel from my family's house over an hour away to be sure I am there for delivery. At 9am, I receive a text message that the driver cancelled the delivery and rescheduled for today. Then, I receive a call today saying my complex doesn't look like it will fit a SEMI. They charge me an extra $350 for a shuttle (I was not prepped that this may happen by anyone prior). He said it will deliver between 12pm-3pm. Low and behold, it is now 4pm on the west coast, NO CALL AND NO SHOW. I CANNOT REACH ANYONE. This company has the poorest communication both internally and externally I have ever experienced. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If I receive my things I a condition which is poorer than when they picked them up, you will be hearing from me again. honestly I didn't expect much I had only a small amount of money to move, I read some reviews I wasn't confident but because of timing and budget had no choice but to go with always moving. They worked with me and got me my stuff across state lines sooner than expect everything was professionally wrapped and preserved and they even went of of there way to put things in place for me I ordered pizza for the guys AND WE HUNG OUT FOR A FEW THEY WERE VERY NICE PEOPLE AND I HOPE I DONT EVER HAVE TO MOVE AGAIN LOL BUT IF I DID IM GOING WITH THEM!!!! read more

Do not by any mean hire this company. They lied from the beginning to the end. I first called Peter who gave me a quote and assured me it won't change. I told him about my concerns with some of the reviews but he reassured me. I also told him I didn't want any drama because I'm caring for my sick mother. He told me not worry. They ask you to wire a deposit which I stupidly did. Then when they showed up the price went up $1200. Also charged extra for wrapping up the TV. Peter won't answer me and he just disappeared so if yuh happen to speak to someone from this company who's name is Peter please just hang up because once he gets you signed up he doesn't care about you. Jermey the dispatcher was disrespectful to me and referred to me as " that woman" when I had my boyfriend talk to him. I had no choice but to go ahead and have them load my stuff. Peter initially told me it will take 3 to 7 business days to deliver. My stuff sat in the truck for 17 days !! I had to involve police. Then when they got to my house they demanded cash or money order or they will not move a thing. I was threatened and felt unsafe. Called the police who had to wait while he was unloading. The whole time I was nice to the driver because he was not part of this scam ( well initially). He was supposed to put up the bedroom per agreement. After he unloaded all my stuff and we signed papers , he claimed that he will go to get his tools to set up the bedroom. Guess what? He took off. Then the company staff and him wouldn't return my calls. I'm goad it's over with them but what a bunch of dishonest people I had to deal with. Also when I told them I was concerned about the reviews of other customers , they claimed they were written by competitors. So they don't validate any of the reviews customers share. Also my washer and dryer had dents in them. Pieces from my bedroom were missing. One thing I strongly felt was that they were sexist toward me and prejudiced. Talking to me in a very condescending way given my gender and accent. They driver changed his attitude with me even more so after he overheard me talking to my mother in my native language and that's probably too played part in him just taking off without finishing the job. I moved last month used and me and my family Always Moving and they were great. We had a lot of big things and surprisingly nothing was damaged. Their price was pretty fair and they communicate even better. They had to change the time they would pick-up my things up but let me know 3 days earlier. My experience with Always Moving has been a nightmare. What is told to you either over the phone or in person has not been accurate and I am putting that nicely. Most People call it lying. The move happened in August of 2019 and Always Moving overcharged, I had also had damaged goods and missing goods. Always Moving quoted a specific Sq Footage - Nothing additional was added to the move. The guy who picked up the move said the sq footage was over the quoted amount. I wanted to take off the extra pieces but he said it was not allowed by the company and he would rectify the Sq footage when he got back to the warehouse. I had to pay an extra an approximate 1k and would get a refund. Never heard back from the driver. The overcharge was documented by the 3rd party who was contracted by Always moving to deliver the shipment in LA it was the exact amount that was originally quoted. Also a the claim for damaged & missing furniture was sent in October 2019. I can not get a call back or a email response to resolve either the dispute or the claim. BUYER BEWARE!! I urge you to spend whatever extra it costs and go elsewhere. This has been the most stressful and disgusting experience I have ever had. I am a first responder relocating to another hospital. These people were so nice and responsive initially and then once they got my money their whole energy shifted. First red flag, the movers were a DAY LATE to pick up my things but I was reassured that it would not interfere with my delivery date LIE #1. Then the movers told me they would have another pick up and go straight to my new location with my things LIE #2! I called the driver only to find out that my things were put on a new route LIE # 3!! I got the run around for a ENTIRE WEEK only to find out my things are in a warehouse. No one ever told me my things would end up in a warehouse. If that was the case, I would've went elsewhere. Then I finally got a hold of someone who told me my things were being loaded unto a truck and now no one is answering my calls. This is unacceptable, to treat a customer this way is absolutely irresponsible. If you don't want to end up sleeping on an air mattress or in a hotel for an extended amount of time don't waist your money here. I contacted this company to move my two bedroom apartment across two states. I paid a $936.00 deposit, the original cu ft of unit estimate was 600 (approx. $2600) and I think it was lowballed it to get the nonrefundable deposit. They did a walk through the day of the move and recalculated the cu ft to 1200 and increased the price to $5300. I had a really bad feeling about them so I canceled the service. I was told the initial deposit was nonrefundable per their contract which I don't agree because they were only at my apartment for an hour. Three guys came which would be approx. $300 an hr. I would never use this company and I plan to warn my friends. If this was the last company on earth I could use, I would not give them more than $100 for a down payment and I would require them to do in home estimates only. read more

WOW this company is something else! I just bought all my furniture last May so I went through the list of everything to the moving rep to get a quote. Taylor is her name, she quoted me $1,700. It was a great deal so I went with Always Moving. Apparently they pay for their reviews because everyone was raving about them. I told Taylor at the that time I would have to make sure we had an exact date and time for the movers to show up because my association is strict. She said no worries I'll be in touch with you frequently through this process and we'll make sure everything is taken care of. 3 months later its time to start this moving process but no word from Taylor. Finally another man called me to go over my items again. He raised my initial quote to $1950. I was shocked and asked what changed. He went over the items Taylor put in and it was completely different then what I told her. Basically she put the bare minimum in to get me to sign up!!! So now its gone up great! I told the man my issue with making sure they have an exact day and time two weeks before they arrive so my association can give permission for the elevator. He told me that wasn't possible you only find out 24hr before they arrive. I asked to speak to a supervisor because one of the other reasons I was sold on this company is they would work with my association. Benjamin the supervisor called me back. We discussed it and I told him my situation. He said okay that will work. So it was all set for the movers to be there on that Monday between 9-11am. Two weeks roll around it's Sunday evening the movers are supposed to be here the next day but no one called to confirm. I thought that was strange. Then Monday around 11ish I got a call from the dispatch confirming my pick up for Tuesday! I freaked out balling my eyes out because I had everything approved for today. I even had my rental car waiting to go and hotels set up for my ling drive. I asked to speak with the supervisor. Finally hours later it is 8PM AT NIGHT BENJAMIN CALLS ME!!! I'm sorry but what company doesn't call their customer when they're upset ?!?! He claims I demanded that time for Monday and he never said it would happen. A COMPLETE LIE. HE EVEN CALLED ME A LIAR!!! I've never had someone speak to me so rudely. If I didn't have to move right away I would've canceled immediately. So after all these red flags the movers finally show up Tuesday. They pack everything up then tell me my price is $2,300!!!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD!!! I feel I've been taken advantage of by this company!!! I mean come on how does it go from$1,700 to $2,300!!! Now it doesn't stop there. They didn't even deliver my stuff until almost a month later!!! IT ARRIVES ALL BROKEN!!! My tv shattered ,my tv stand missing multiple legs, Coffee table looks like its been rolled down the street,scratches on almost everything I own. It's like they came in my house and took a bat to it then took all my money. Now its 4 months later they finally are giving me my money from the damages. I sent all the information on how much everything weighed because they'll only pay 60c per lb!!! It came out to way over 500lb but according to their system my receipts don't matter they only pay off their common weight. Guess what... 160lbs is all they'll do!!! so after all my new furniture I just bought in May destroyed and I'll only be receiving $96. WOW just wow. We've moved across the country several times and this is by far the worst experience we've ever had. Always Moving does not do long distance moves, they subcontract out everything when it comes to moving long distance. Thus, they have virtually no control over the process once you make your deposit. We were promised by several people at the Company that the delivery window would be 5-14 days from date of first delivery (like normal moving companies). However, it took 40 DAYS for Always Moving to deliver our items. Sales people are pushy and make false promises. Our several contacts at the Company did not answer any of our phone calls or emails throughout the entire month, dispatch is your only point of contact once items are picked up. Always Moving also promised that the driver would notify us 48 hours before delivery so we could prepare. To our surprise the driver called us at 4pm on a Saturday and says he will arrive the next day at 9am. The driver also tells us that the ONLY way to pay is in cash and there is NO receipt of payment. We had less than 24 hours to come up with $2,000 in cash (on a Sunday) or else they would withhold our items. We were also promised that our items (tables, desks, etc.) would be put back together once delivered, which did not happen. After all of that we feel cheated and scammed, especially since the final quote was $2,750 and the final price paid ended up being over $5,000. Even the delivery driver said that Always Moving engages in very sketchy business practices and has heard of numerous horror stories over the last couple of years. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Always Moving if you wish to move long distance. It was an absolute nightmare with absolutely no customer service along the way. read more
