Coosh's is a Tallahassee institution (at least for me as as a Chiles alum). In high school in Tallahassee, kids always came back from lunch with a Coosh's to-go cup in hand. All these years later, I finally checked Coosh's out for brunch after church to see what the hype was all about.
It was SUPER busy on a Sunday afternoon but we were seated immediately at probably one of the last available tables. Service was slow but we got our order in quickly once our server came around. We ordered three of Our Famous Beignets which were pretty solid - they're not Cafe du Monde but I was still satisfied. I decided why not go big while I'm home so I ordered the Hangover, which was a massive bowl of grits (I'm not exaggerating when I say massive). It was super heavy, as I expected, and maybe not my first choice for an entree if I were actually hungover. However, it was tasty and flavorful and the eggs were cooked perfectly.
Overall, while I know one brunch dish is not indicative of the entire rest of the menu, I definitely would love to stop in again to see what brought the kids in everyday for lunch. read more
