It was National Margarita Day and my husband was craving margaritas. After stopping by a cafe, we noticed Taco Mama next door. Instead of searching for another restaurant, we decided to give it a try. Everything on the menu sounded good. They offer unlimited free toppings so you can literally pile on as much as you want. We both ordered the Taco Basket which comes with two tacos and you can mix and match. I chose The Sizzler and The Mayor with roasted corn and black bean toppings. My husband chose The Sizzler and Cheezy Beef. Our food came out fairly quickly but we soon realized why. Everything on our tacos was cold and the meats were only lukewarm. I'm guessing they precook everything and don't keep it heated. The roasted corn tasted like it had just come out of the fridge. The meats were nicely seasoned but that was about it. They were supposed to be topped with sauces but we couldn't really taste any. The soft shells were also too soft and soggy. I couldn't even hold my tacos without them falling apart so I had to eat them with a fork. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita but it was very sour. I could only finish about half of it. The line kept getting longer while we were eating so they're clearly popular. Still, I felt like there's room for improvement. read more
