The YWCA is a non-profit organization downtown that functions as both a community center and a gym.
The community center offers programs, services, and support to women and their families. Women who have experienced abuse have a safe place to go and help with their situations. There is also a neat program called Rosie's girls that builds the self esteem of young girls by learning and gaining skills in carpentry and other trades. They also have literacy programs, childcare help, health initiatives, and an art gallery.
I came to an art gallery opening here last weekend and it was quite enjoyable. They have a nice space for art on the second floor. There were at least ten sculptures made out of alabaster that were gorgeous!
I have just acquired a pass to their gym and I'm excited to find out what it has to offer. The gym is run by Tri-Health so it better be great! read more
