Got a complete outfit for a wedding the day before my flight, including the shoes, spent very little, and arrived in style. Staff is friendly and helpful. Last year I found the perfect coat, tags still on, for less than half the retail price. It's nice to get fine clothes for affordable prices, but they also have a great selection of women's clothes that I like. I love my coat! I also found a Canada goose down jacket, again, the tags were still on. Ran into a neighbor who was trying on scarves. She is always fashionably dressed in expensive clothes. She bought all of the scarves. Today I'm going there to find the perfect pair of jeans. Buying at Elan also offers a bonus benefit, which is that you are not contributing to unsustainable consumption, so there's a double benefit! read more

Don't drop your clothes here. I did and never heard anything or received payment so went in to check a month later. They said I missed the deadline and explained they gave it away to charity. These were very expensive unworn items. I went back a year later and saw all my items out for sale and questioned them about the fake charity claim. They acted surprised. I took all my stuff back. They are looking to make money without paying sellers. Go to 2nd Hand in Needham!! read more

I am from New York, and I frequently shop in upscale consignment/vintage clothing shops. On a recent trip to the Boston area, a friend suggested that I visit Elan, and I did. I was thrilled with my visit there. First of all, the sales staff were lovely; they were warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. When I expressed what I was looking for, the sales person brought me piece after lovely piece of things she thought I might be interested in. Secondly, the quality and variety of the clothing and accessories was superior. I am so glad that I took the time to visit the store. I would strongly recommend Elan to all living in and visiting the Boston area. I can't wait to return to see what new finds I can make. read more

Elan is my favorite consignment store. I drive from North Andover to shop there and am always pleased. The store carries fine clothing, shoes, purses, and jewelry at reasonable prices, especially during the sales! I have a great time trying on a variety of styles, and Jamie, the Sales Associate, is willing to provide assistance and feedback, making the experience great fun! I return home with a good number of purchases, eager to boast of my finds! These have included an Armani jacket, a Coach purse in mint condition, Tori Burch pants (brand new!), Via Spiga pumps, and many gorgeous dresses. I've received countless compliments, too. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I am there, and, ya know, that's a mighty fine feeling! read more

In response to the female surgeon from Wellesley, I must state that she must be thinking of another store. I have bought several items at Elan and have always been treated well no matter how long I needed to look at items. I was delighted to find designer shorts in perfect condition for 20-30% of the cost at other stores. read more

I do not know what that surgeon is talking about. I am a tax attorney on the South Shore who travels to Elan specifically to shop at Elan. Upscale consignment stores are my "thing." Elan is the best upscale consignment store I have found outside of Palm Beach. Unlike surgeons who wear scrubs and most likely lock their designer pocketbooks in a locker all day, I must provide a professional appearance all day long. Elan has been my go-to consignment store for designer work and play outfits for several years. I constantly receive compliments on the suits, shoes and accessories (including expensive pocketbooks!) from my clients and colleagues. The staff is so helpful, I always think they are my personal shoppers. By the way, Dr. F, no responsible store whips out a $4,000 handbag without vetting the consumer for insurance and legal purposes. Dr. F could have grabbed it and ran out the door. Apparently Dr. F has never been to Tiffany's or Hermes because they do the same thing. Perhaps her friends in Wellesley and Weston can enlighten her. read more

I would give zero stars in possibly. I am an established Surgeon living in close proximity of this store. I walked in today and inquired about a Chanel bag that I saw in the window. I was rudely welcomed by a staff member/owner stating "do you know that bag is 4000 dollars!". I enlightened her that i am well aware how much Chanel bags cost and an owner of quite a few bags myself. She then rudely brought me the bag as if she was doing me a favor. And was annoyed when I handed it back to her. What the owner and her staff fail to understand is that people are not obligated to buy a single thing, no matter how many things they look at. That's how all stores run, as customers we are not obligated to buy anything never mind used goods that we dislike. This store is congested, smells like feet and has terrible customer service. The owner and her crew need to learn some manners and communication skills. You are located in Wellesley, do yourself a favor and do not question your customers. It's cheap and disrespectful on your part. I will never step foot back in that store and I'll be sure to tell all my professional friends in Wellesley and Weston how my experience was. read more
