I visited this place for the first time today, even though I'd been wanted to check it out for about 7 years now (yes, that long)! I regret letting that much time go by, because the clothes are so unique and curated so well... you'll never find pieces like these elsewhere! The shop owner, Karen, and her shop assistant Chloe were helpful. Chloe selected some items for me without being pushy. I found a lot of cute pieces (with varying levels of success after trying them on), and one item was so amazing I had to buy it. The prices are a range. I tried on 2 cute tanks and they were $25 and $40. The dress I bought was $74. I don't mind paying a bit more for something that I truly love, especially when it's unique! Some other prices I saw were in the $150-200 range, which is a bit steep... but again, some of the pieces looked like they were one of a kind. Most sizes DO say small, but I'm a size 10 and there were plenty of things that fit me just fine, so I wouldn't assume they cater only to smaller women. I have never loved a clothing store the way I love Zia. I almost always find something that I really love and as others say, the clothes I wear that get compliments are always from Zia. They are often unique styles or beautiful colors and materials. My 32 year old daughter and I both find styles we like there. The prices are very reasonable, I think, for the special clothes that they have. I am not a person who usually shops in expensive boutiques either. Give the store a try. The lady who owns this store, is a doll. What a nice store in the little town of Belmont. I'd say there are some very classy, eclectic, fun, sassy, earthy, beachy, casual, happy, cool, calm, collected things at Zia. I've been driving by this store for years and finally had some time on a rainy day to stop in. Now, I found some really cute dresses, tops, jeans, etc. But, I didn't buy any today. Maybe it was the depressing rain that was showering over Boston for the 2452th straight day, or maybe I was just feeling like I didn't want to try anything on. Either way, I'll definitely be back soon. The prices were fairly reasonable. It is an outlet, so there is a lot to choose from. I'd say anyone from their 20s on could shop here. How have I not reviewed this place yet?? Oh wait, I know. I've been jealously keeping it to myself so the whole world doesn't start shopping here. The clothes themselves are great. Very unique and always something new to look at. For a girl with a little extra around the middle, there are an abundance of tunics and flowy tops which are very flattering. I get so many compliments on the clothes I buy here! But what keeps me coming back is not just the clothes, it's the experience. Karen and Chloe are awesome. They remember my name, even when I haven't been in for six months. And they actually look around the store and hand pick different things for me to try on based on my size and style. The best part is, they are honest. They don't just tell you everything looks great on you in order to make a sale. You can ask for their opinion and know they will give you a real answer. This might sound silly, but when I shop at Zia, I always feel special. I don't know too many places that can give you great deals on great clothes AND make you feel like their number one customer. Great little funky clothes shop. European sample sale type items for way cheap. I always find something great and very unusual. The owner is very into fashion and is fun to talk shop with (sorry for the pun). It's a teeny tiny little boutique, with lots of character. I found some great thing there today, and had a great conversation with the woman minding the store (we probably talked for about 45 minute) It's a small boutique store that reminds me of the shops I liked in Montreal. I do agree that a good amount of the clothing caters more towards the middle age group (specifically the tops) but I found a gorgeous dress and skirt here. I will absolutely keep popping in to see what sort of neat stuff they have, and I would love to talk to the owner too. I went in expecting the clothes to be a lot more affordable that what they really are. I was really disappointed in the hefty prices they had on certain things. I also really wish there were more sizes in things; not everyone is a size small! Have to say...they definitely lost some business due to that aspect. Overall, I had a good *experience there: the owner was extremely nice and very attentive. She definitely catered to my style and offered things in my price range and style when one item didn't work out for me. I will definitely stop by again...just to see if there's anything new going on. The staff is not welcoming - no business sense. I agree with other reviewers that they pay attention to only their "regulars." I stopped in yesterday and as I strolled through the store, they never said hello or acknowledged me in any way at all. In this difficult time I look to support small businesses, but choose not to support anyone who lacks common courtesy and appears elitist. The clothes aren't particularly special. read more

This place has so many different sizes, fashion trends and items that are not seen everywhere. It is a sample boutique (no, it does not mean size 0 or 4 anymore). Lots of colors and also solids. The merchandise is constantly changing and much love goes into this store. They have wonderful events and always the right gift for someone. I generally by gifts here for women in my life. I adore this place, half of my clothes come from there. Karen, the owner, now remembers me so that when I come in says "I just got some things you'll like." Believe me, that doesn't happen at Filene's Basement. I even bought *two* coats at once a few seasons back, something I have never done *in my life*, because together they cost less than I would have paid for one. And I wear them constantly. One addition to what everyone already said: Zia's has an email list. Join it and you'll know when to skip out of work to be there at 10 a.m. to check your favorite merchandise and when to come by and have your tarot read as a benefit. Don't buy unless you're absolutely 100% sure that you are going to keep what you purchased! I bought a few pieces totalling well over $600 that looked fine in-store (although the dressing rooms are itty-bitty and it's VERY difficult to get a really good look!), but when I got home and looked in MY mirror, they looked horrific! When I was trying a pair of shoes on and wasn't quite sure whether to purchase them or not, Chloe and I discussed that if the shoes did not work for me I could just bring them back (NOT insinuating I would get a store credit!). So, a couple of weeks after I bought the items, I called about their store hours and happened to mention that I had to return a few items. It was then that I was told that their return policy is to get store-credit! That is the ONLY option! You cannot return anything and get a refund- EVER! I was told, "That is how it is with all the boutiques." I asked where the return policy is posted (it's not on the receipt!), and she said that it's posted in the dressing rooms and behind the check-out counter. I am a wise consumer and NEVER buy anything at boutiques or shops with a "no refund- store credit only" return policy. NEVER! It's a horrendous selfish policy that is not in the clients' best interests. Because of this, I will never shop at Zia's again and would not recommend it to anyone. It is sneaky and I admittedly was duped. Moving on....as another reviewer pointed out, this store is primarily suited for the small and extra-small woman. There is not much to choose from for the average-sized woman. It is comprised mostly of longer tunics to be worn with leggings, so if you're not into that, this is not the shop for you. Their prices are NOT deals at all (although they claim to be).You won't leave the shop paying less than $100 for much of anything except a pair of $30 leggings. In short, save yourself the trip, money and aggravation. Spend your hard-earned money at a shop that has YOU as it's top priority- not its own wallet. read more

A fun little snazzy boutique very unexpectedly located next to the Ben Franklin Five and Dime. They have great accessories especially the jewelry, scarves and lingerie. They carry predominately sample clothing which comes mostly in sizes under size 6 or small so it is not the place for everyone to find clothes. The clothes are arty and unusual but not expensive compared to other stores that carry unique clothes. Owner is great and if you ask her to call you when a certain brand or items come in she will (and give you a quantity discount as well). They are not open on Sunday or Monday and if they are not busy they will close up so call before you go. read more

Small, eclectic, always changing little clothing shop. Wide array of styles and prices every season, and well worth signing up for their e-mail list to get alerts on sales, because that's when you can get the really mind-blowing bargains. Her taste is not always my taste when she suggests items for me, but she's never, ever pushy. And yes, some of the lines are geared toward a slightly older audience than myself (in my early 30's), but I still always see a number of things I like, and every piece I have bought here I've gotten complimented on. Be warned that the store has a higher number of smaller sizes - and no petite or tall sizes that I've seen - since a lot of the stock are samples. There's still a range, just not as much as a chain store might have. But that's what tailors are for. Plus, half the fun of going here is the hunt, and the stock changes often enough that you can have happy hunting every week or two! read more
