The hotel is a 4-5 minutes walk from the train station and close to shopping. It was a great centrally located spot for our day trips and adventures. A local transportation voucher was given to us for our use, but we enjoyed walking around the city. I highly recommend this hotel and would easily return.

The shower was huge & had lots of great water pressure & equally great lemonny bath products Fridge, safe, free WiFi & there was a plate of fresh fruit with water, waiting on us when we entered the room as a welcome. Quiet floors and never heard a peep from the neighbors or the elevator ( we were positioned next to it ) Parking was 32 CHF but in comparison, our morning coffee in the city cost 31 CHF so at the end of the day, this was a bargain. And in case we hadn't have driven, they had day passes for public transportation and paper street maps ( if required ) Within easy walking distance to all the touristy spots like the FLower Clock, Jet d'Eau, the shopping district and Old Town Thanks for the luxurious accommodations and the most pleasantly placed location - Hôtel d'Allèves François d'Allèves is our definitely go-to hotel next time we're in Geneva!

It was a 2 hour tour that started at 2:15 on a Sunday. The tour wasn't fully booked so we had plenty of space to stretch out on the Coach Bus. We also had good weather for this time of the year. The first hour was on the bus and we walked for the remainder. Main highlights-brief stop for pictures at the UN and the Broken Chair. Passed multiple World Headquarters/Centers (Refugee, WHO, WTO). Walking tour included Old Town and St. Pierre Cathedral. Our tour guide (Gabriel and Dave (Driver) was very knowledgeable, thorough and took good care of us. Great value for money and one of the best city tours I've experienced.

Waiting is the most used word of the day…read more The tour bus arrived 30 minutes late for pick up enroute to Mont Blanc, but coming back the driver wasted no time in picking us up from the mountain then back to where we started in the morning. Our assigned tour guide left us the moment we went up the lift to Mont Blanc. Earlier, he announced to everyone that the group will be meeting by the flag pole on a certain time. We arrived and no one was there. Good thing my husband figured out that we should walk towards the station and catch the train that will bring us to the ice cave. Spent more time standing in line and sitting in the train to bring us up the mountain. Once up there, the view was breathtaking. Made a few steps up and down the stairs, took some pictures then standing in line again for the lift back up. After the lift, we waited again in line for the train ride. Our patience was tested. The weather was hot and the train was full of passengers...even made the whole experience hotter. We paid more than $300 for the two of us that includes the bus, the lifts and the train ride. Was it worth it? Hard to define. I felt this tour was too stressful because we had to commute with the general public during the lift and train ride. Felt abandoned by the tour guide. Time is the essence. Always felt in a rush and lost. The tour is ok for a quick stop and picture taking. But if you like hiking, it is advisable to stay there a couple of days to really enjoy and appreciate the amazing view and weather. For the tour company, easy to book on line. The bus was spacious and the biggest sun roof I have ever seen. Not a fan of the he/male tour guide.

Gare de Genève Cornavin seemed like I wasn't in Switzerland anymore. It was chaotic and definitely some sketchy characters walking around asking for money. There's no police/ security. Yes, they have a lot of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants at the station. You can also catch buses here. You have to pay attention to which station you need to be catching a bus from (arranged alphabetically but not in consistent order which was frustrating). Catching a bus is nuts. There's about 6 bus lines per station with at least 10 people waiting blocking the entrance to the main train station. It's only quiet here from 9pm-8am. I've caught a bus/ train at different times of the day. The busiest is in the afternoon but it's not like you have much of a choice if you need to be somewhere.

Coming off of our train, we entered a customs area but we weren't sure if we were supposed to exit or find our track and there was no one to ask. I will agree that it may have been because we're novices and I was the only person with any European train experience and I have never had to go though customs to exit a train before and I didn't want to make the wrong move. Luckily, the area we were in had a board with track numbers and once we saw our next train and it's track number we were confident to go through the customs area. Which btw was nothing, just some armed people watching us walk past them. This station is packed so be wary and bon chance!

On the contrary, reception assured me that someone would be waiting for me whenever I arrived at the hotel. Indeed, despite arriving past midnight, there was a gentleman at reception to greet me at check-in. When I got to my room, everything was perfect. There was even a beautiful welcome gift waiting. All linens & towels were crisp, the room was clean & elegant, and the queen size bed super comfy. There was also tons of storage space in the armoire for all three of my bags. When I requested a late check-out, again I was greeted by someone friendly at reception who was very accommodating. Despite only having spent one night at the Hotel Rotary, I felt like a valued customer & would certainly not hesitate to return again. Location is also perfect. It's a very quick walk to the lake (Lac Leman); and centrally located near a Manor AG, Geneva Cornavin train station (Gare de Genève), and plenty of coffee shops & restaurants nearby. Lots to do, plenty of shopping, and easy access to transportation. From Geneva airport (GVA), Uber is about CHF 30 each way, or the SBB train is just CHF 3 each way.

They open from the top only and fully, sideways. The bed (and pillows) is extremely comfortable, which is the main things, really. The TV was ok (not a TV guy.) Restaurant: breakfast is ok. It has almost everything but choices within are limited. No fruits. Bread basket is good though. Cheese selection is poor and looks old, from a previous morning or something. Coffee is always cold; perhaps due to the china they use. I always prefer thermos. Service: the service is great. Staff is extremely nice and helpful, with tips and directions to good restaurants and attractions. Value for money: just under two hundred bucks per night is about right. On another trip I would say it's overpriced, but I'm feeling generous.

The boutique SNCF deliver train tickets for some journeys that you plan for outside of Switzerland…read more First time, it happens to me: going to Lyon this weekend I could not print the ticket at home (what?!? ;). I went at the Boutique SNCF just next to the Geneva Cornavin Train Station to get my tickets and took the opportunity to question the lady Why am I here... So that you know : when having a journey on a TER train in France (not TGV) : you cannot print your tickets at home even though you book and pay them on the website. "Soon you will be able to do it" the lady told me. Yeah, looking forward :) Last but not least I had to pay CHF 12.- more because I withdraw the ticket from Switzerland... Mmmh Mmmh was not informed of that when booking... Anyway, i have no choice... The workers at the boutique are very nice, helpful, and the waiting time less than 5 minutes (at lunch Time!).
