Interesting to say the least. Advertised as hosting LIVE music 365 days a year, my friend and I went in on a Tuesday night expecting just that. Only to be greeted by one very friendly bartender and 3 patrons. We stayed for a drink and I'm glad we did, we got to try a few samples of the shot specials and met a hilarious local who kept us entertained for the hour we ended up staying-who needed music at that point! read more

My friend and I were passing by Montgomery and wanted to find some chill place with live music. After a quick search on Yelp 1048 Jazz and Blues seemed to be the best bet so we headed over. At first, we were caught a bit off guard by how inconspicuous the place looked, and could there possibly be any live music every night (as claimed by their official website, which didn't seem to have seen an update since the early 2000s). However, we were proven wrong. There indeed was a live music band! Even on a weeknight all of the locals gather, drink, and have a good time. Everybody seemed super friendly and easygoing, which made our night all the better. If you ever get a chance go and check the place out. It's divey, chill, and overall good time. read more

Imagine a worn out house complete with overgrown front yard, decrepit patio area sections that smell like vomit frequented by locals then you have a good idea what it's like. Although near Huntingdon College, it is not it is not a college bar. Occasional live music and strangely a couple video slot machines. They even have a flat iron for the ladies in the restroom. If you could transplant this to Orange County and cater to punk shows you would have a good venue. read more

First time visiting Alabama and I went looking for the sounds and sights of the city only to discover that it becomes a ghost town after 9.30-10pm. This was the only place open on Sunday after 9. It's an old house turned into a cozy little dive bar with a $5 cover. It's very quaint and odd, from the fact that the actual House address is 1104 but the bar is called 1048. Or the flat iron installed in the ladies bathroom $2 for 2 min, $5 for 5 min you can go from poof to glam. The drinks were cheap, service was fast and the music was extraordinary. Only negative was the smoke, smoking is allowed. It seemed to be some open mic type of gig but consisting of some bad ass musicians. The keyboard guy this particular night just brought the house down. Enjoyed every bit of my experience. Must see sight for Montgomery!! read more

So a fellow Yelper brought me up to date and I just learned that the 1048 Jazz and Blues bar moved to 1104 Fairview Ave in the mid to late 90's and they just kept their name. Pretty cool huh! That explains the funky address. read more

Home in the wall dive bar with a fire pit and live music scene. Small and dingy, with the inevitable smell of spilt beer inside, but it has character. The music has surpassed expectations each time I've been there. Stop by and check it out. read more

I loved the place the moment I stepped in... Small and old, with an authentic flavor. The music is beyond great and the $5 cover is definitely worth it. Do not, however, order draft beers: the cups are the smallest I've seen anywhere. Ah, and they offered two beer specials but ran out of both of them. I still recommend the place, though... We stumbled on this place looking for places open in Montgomery after a Jason Isbell concert on a Sunday night. I found this place by googling. It was absolutely awesome-the authentic jazz experience inside a house-bar. The musicians were outstanding, talented jazz musicians. The drinks were good and cheap. The vibe of the place was spectacular. I am happy we had this experience. read more

This place is awesome! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the music is spotty. Most nights I've been there, it's more a Dave Matthews Band or solo hipster on a guitar with a mic as opposed to jazz or blues. But the drinks are cheap, the people are cool, and the bartenders (and the owner, Dan--I think that's his name) are friendly and fun. If you're a single guy like me, this is a great place to meet pretty girls and make new friends. I can't wait to go back! read more

Came here on a Sunday evening , there is jazz every Sunday and the music was fantastic!!!! People who hang out here seemed really cool and friendly crowd.. This is a kind of gritty bar, but the drinks are strong and bartender was friendly... At least for the jazz night, many people showed up very well dressed, although there were also people in t-shirts and jeans so I did not feel out of place, given that was how I was dressed.. In the Cloverdale area which apparently has other nightlife options and many restaurants, although on a Sunday not so much seemed to be going on anywhere in Montgomery, so this place is a great choice for a Sunday evening.. My one complaint was that the band took a ridiculously long break... I showed up around 11:30 and paid the $5 cover to learn that they had just gone on break.. They did not start playing music again for 45 minutes!! But that was just this particular band on this particular night.. and anyways the music was wonderful and I got to talk to some very interesting people over some nice cocktails while waiting for the musicians to go back to work.. read more

Great Live music! If you get a chance to see and hear Ziggy and the Zigtones - GO! Great southern rock. The guitarist use to play with Molly Hatchet and is totally 'on fire' when he plays, and both the drummer and bassist are excellent. This band rocks the place! read more

This is the way a bar was meant to be... good live music (I struck up a conversation with a musician who I later learned played with the Temptations years ago), inexpensive booze, and interesting people. I hope to make it back soon, and next time I'll try to be in Montgomery on a Sunday night so I can listen to some great blues music too. read more

Bartender Bo was pretty cool. Music was good Grateful Dead and Phish covers, but much too loud. The band would have sounded better if they were just quieter. Had fun and will go back again in another 15 years. read more

It's an ok spot and I've gone there only because it's close to my house. Don't expect jazz or blues music there much. Have been there six times and only once was there jazz and it was awesome. The rest of the time it's shitty cover bands that are a waste of time. The beer cups they give are pretty small too, maybe 8 ounces, but you're paying the 12 ounce price. read more
