I think the unit was recently remodeled. Private beach access was a short walk. The pool was clean and offered a separate kiddie pool. Unfortunately, the hot tub was closed for repairs. We took advantage of the nice gazebo area with 3 gas grills and a gas firepit. The beach was not crowded at all. Only had one day of rain. Palmetto Dunes is safe, secure, very clean, and family friendly.

Plus, the beach proximity of our rental was easy - less than a city block. The property easily housed my party of 7 as expected. There was ample hot water, the air conditioning worked well, the keyless entry operated as expected, the kitchen dishware and cookware were sufficient and most of the house was generally clean. A few things were merely irritating: - The sliding glass door that connects the master bedroom to the patio does not work. A physical effort and a noisy rocking motion will open it enough for a thin person to slide out sideways. Once I got this back closed we did not use it again; - The curtains on those sliding glass doors are very VERY sheer. Effectively they are see-through. Anything happening in that master bedroom is shared with any guests on the patio; - The black patio chairs are peeling some kind of substance -- possibly old paint. Whatever that stuff is, it's almost impossible to get it off your legs. One thing was grossly unacceptable: a non-working freezer. Imagine 7 days in the summer at an ~$8,000/week LUXURY rental with a non-working basic appliance! No advance warning. Infuriating is that fact that the owners KNEW this. I know that they knew because there is a small card on one of the kitchen walls, warning the renter that the freezer is slow to freeze after a new guest enters and that 24-48 hours ought to be given. Well, it did not freeze in the entire week. Spoiled food, zero ice, etc. An AI search suggested I ought to be due some compensation and per my description, suggested $150 to $400 per day depending on whether the owner provided an interim solution, such as a cooler with ice or a secondary freezer. After some email correspondence and conversations, the property manager (Demetrea Thomas) refunded $550. In total. She told me the owners had placed an auxiliary freezer in the kitchen (and apparently my party of SEVEN - none of us blind) all missed it for 7 days. When I disputed this absurd assertion, she promised to credit me more if she can verify that in fact there was no auxiliary freezer. I asked her for a photo of it. Dishonesty, rottenness and possibly criminal Well, Demetrea DID send me a photo. The photo showed a refrigerator/freezer combo standing right there in the dining room, beneath a light green wall tapestry. Thankfully, among the various pictures taken by my family was one showing that very wall with the green tapestry. It is quite apparent that there is no 5' tall stainless steel appliance standing there. I shared this with Demetrea on July 7. Not a peep from her and I presume I shall not. Not sure who is more rotten - the owners of 167 Mooring, the owners of Palmetto Dunes, or the property manager Demetrea Thomas.

I love that they send the keys/house codes and parking passes weeks ahead of time. It allows me to mail them to the individuals we share the house with. The houses are always well stocked, saving us to have to purchase trash bags, toilet paper, etc. mid-week. If we encounter a problem they respond quickly. This year, the grill was broken. We called and their handy man came to the property within two hours. He determined the grill was non-repairable. Destination Vacation had a new grill out to the house the next day. This company is my first choice when renting on Hilton Head.

We've been vacationing in Hilton Head for 30+ years and our stay at this home was our best yet. Gorgeous house and perfect location. Two families with 4 kids total and we had so much room to spare. The two master suites were beautifully updated and perfect to accommodate everyone. The house is perfectly laid out, and you can hear the ocean right from the pool or from the patio of the master. The swimming pool was perfect to cool down and we loved using the hot tub at night. Being so close to the beach couldn't have been more ideal with children in tow. We will always have this house as our top choice of places to stay when visiting Hilton Head. Thanks for an amazing week we'll never forget!

6 Cassina Ln - Some Nice Renovations, But Too Many Other Issues…read more Our group appreciated some of the recent updates in this home--particularly the nicely renovated kitchen and bathrooms. The large kitchen table was a great gathering spot for meals and games, and the multiple porches gave everyone a place to relax. However, one of the porches didn't have any furniture, limiting its use. That said, several issues impacted our overall experience and should be addressed: Pool Area: The listing showed lounge chairs around the pool, but there were none upon arrival. The outdoor table and chairs are rusted, with several chairs having dangerously eroded armrests. After pool maintenance mid-week, the unheated pool became warmer than the heated hot tub. We used the provided instructions to start up the hot tub but were unsuccessful. Management resolved the hot tub problems and later told us the laminated instructions in the house were incorrect. Reviews suggest this is a recurring issue. The privacy fence blocked airflow--some outdoor fans would help make the space more comfortable. Overhanging trees constantly dropped debris into the pool and surrounding area, which hadn't been cleaned recently; a slimy buildup was present near the pool steps. Despite the listing stating that beach towels were provided, none were at the house when we arrived. Management did send over towels the same day we called. Laundry: The dryer had standing water inside. The management attributed it to condensation, but this isn't something we've encountered in many years of owning and renting homes in Hilton Head. Pull-Out Couch Area: The ceiling fan is wired to the main light switch, so it can't be used without also having the light on--problematic for sleeping. Beds & Bedrooms: The master bed had an added cushion that caused the fitted sheets to pop off during the night. Several guests reported back pain from uncomfortable beds; one of the twin beds was wobbly due to a broken leg. The upstairs area was warm and slow to cool; upgrading to LED lighting might help reduce heat. Bathrooms: Only the master bath had sufficient towel bars/hooks. The other bathrooms lacked adequate places to hang towels. One bathroom had a fan that ran constantly and loudly, requiring the door to be closed at night. Kitchen: The ice maker was unreliable, requiring us to buy ice. Management did bring some bags to help. The cookware, while attractive, was not non-stick, making it difficult to use for meals. Porches: The screened-in porch roof leaks during rain, soaking the furniture and making it unusable during bad weather. General Maintenance: While the management company responded to a few of our calls by sending someone over to clean the pool area and check the appliances, no lasting solutions were provided. After several issues, we became reluctant to keep calling. Final Thoughts: The home has great potential with some thoughtful renovations and a spacious layout, but the maintenance and communication issues significantly affected our stay. With more attention to detail and proactive upkeep, this could be a much better experience for future guests.

I just got back from a vacation at 25 Duck Hawk with my fiancés family and we were pretty…read moredisappointed with our stay. The location itself (oceanfront and in Sea Pines) was awesome. Unfortunately, the location was the only good thing. So many things in the house were broken. The ice maker didn't work. The dishwasher top shelf fell out when trying to pull it out to put dishes in. One of the two ovens did not work properly. One of the toilets only half flushed. A broken off plug was stuck in one of the electrical outlets. The light switch in our bedroom did not connect to any light. The fan only turned on for a short period of time. For a luxury home rental company, the amenities and appliances were far from luxurious. Also, they provided us with nowhere near enough toilet paper or trash bags for our stay. For as much as we paid for our stay, you think they could've provided a few more inexpensive toilet paper rolls and trash bags... On top of that, there were a few spots in the house with visible dark mold. One of which was our bathroom. I have a mold allergy, so this was not something I was thrilled to see. They had someone come to look at it and instead of taking a good look and figuring out how to best remediate it, the guy they sent over just cleaned up the visible mold off the ceiling. This is NOT how you properly clean up mold... He also told us to make sure to keep the vent in the bathroom open, as this is how the mold got there (in a tone as if it was OUR fault). The mold was there when we arrived, as was the closed bathroom vent. Not to mention, the guy they sent over showed up unannounced. No phone call letting us know that they were sending someone over. In additional to this unannounced man, there was another man that showed up on the property. He had a leafblower and was blowing leaves off the property, but he showed up completely unannounced and didn't introduce himself or let us know that he would be cleaning outside. Needless to say, I was in for a shock when I walked up from the beach and was met with a stranger! My mother in law called The Vacation Company (on the first day of our stay) and let them know that we were dissatisfied with our property. The lady on the phone said they had a lot of problems with this property and offered us another one. It was a little bigger, but the location was nowhere near as nice. We decided to stay with 25 Duck Hawk, although it was far from the quality we were expecting. Do yourself a favor and do not stay at 25 Duck Hawk Rd! It is run down and in serious need of some TLC, I would not consider it luxury. Their other properties seem to be relatively nicer, but try to do research on the specific property you want to stay at!
