That alone should have been enough to leave, but it got worse. The toilet had literal poop residue from the previous guest (and the photos I'm posting are AFTER multiple flushes, so no, it's not because someone was still there), there was hair in the bed, a toenail on the floor and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. We ended up stripping the beds and using our own sheets (we travel a lot) because we didn't trust anything in the unit. There were bugs everywhere. I lifted a pillow on the couch and a spider came crawling out. It felt dirty and neglected, not at all what you expect when paying that kind of money for a vacation rental. When I called to report everything, I didn't hear back for HOURS. When they finally responded, they told me any compensation would have to be discussed after checkout. After checkout, of course, no one has responded. No accountability, no follow-up, nothing. The only thing they initially offered was to send a housekeeper... at 1 PM the next day. By then, we had already cleaned everything ourselves because we had no choice. To make things even more uncomfortable, the owner approached us on the balcony about a remote that had fallen off. It might have been minor, but combined with everything else, it felt invasive, like we were being watched the entire time. The ONLY redeeming quality is the ocean view. That's it. Between the bugs, the filth, the lack of response, and the uncomfortable interactions, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've had. I would absolutely not stay here again and would strongly caution anyone considering it.

There are many cottages to choose from and they are all beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. I have never once had to complain about a cleanliness issue and we have stayed in a different cottage almost every time we've visited over the course of many years. They check in with you by text to make sure everything is going well and the few times we've had a question or needed help with something, they have responded right away. We stayed in the Cantaloupe cottage this past weekend and we enjoyed it some much that we hated to leave. If you are thinking about visiting Tybee Island, these are the folks you need to be renting from, trust me.

The unit we rented is really nice and kept very clean. It is very nicely decorated and is stocked with pots, pans, utensils and free WiFi. The unit sleeps six people easy and the hall closet was very cleverly converted in to bunk beds for kids. The unit is on the third floor so we have a good view of the water. There is a nice sized pool with a gazebo and chairs, tables and to the side a small kiddie pool. At the end of the building on each floor is the laundry room As I mentioned, the outside looks dreary and run down. The color is not cheerful. I was actually worried when we drove up through the gate. The waterway isn't a beach you might be accustomed to such as Daytona or Malibu beach. It is a beach along where the river meets the Atlantic ocean. There are tons of shells and signs warning you of water hazards and i am assuming the water isn't good for water sports. There are swamps nearby and dozens of different sized waterways. It is a wonder how they built giant forts here during the 1700's. Everything appears to be below sea level. Over all it is nice. I am still a wee bit worried about the high crime rate in Savannah. People have told us to stay in the historic district and to avoid the residential and industrial areas. We happened to drive through an area I can only describe as the projects. However downtown looks really nice and we are looking forward to visiting some museums. (edit) The room we stayed in was exactly like the pictures online. I feel for those who got a bad room but if you are looking for a inexpensive room ours was 309A, the east building. This room was really sweet for the price. I figured out that this place is actually more of a staging area for fishing and sight seeing. People make use of the pool and maybe a walk on the beach, but swimming is out of the question. In the mornings if you get up early, before the tide starts to recede, you can go shell hunting. If you are lucky you'll find something good brought in from the tide.

The video and photos of the house was exactly as it appeared. My adult kids said - mom, you did good. This place is sweet. Hahaha. This was my first air bnb rental. The home had so many beautiful decorations ! Very well done ! Everything was clean ! The patio had nice furniture with comfortable cushions. We spent most mornings and evenings on the patio! Many details were considered. The kitchen had everything ! Including a milkshake machine. We made some twice. It was fun and great dessert ! The bikes in the garage were used multiple times to tour the island. The walk to the beach was convenient the beach was perfect. It was a short walk to the pier. The coffee table has a book on Tybee island. It was very informative! The pool was in perfect working order and well heated. It was used a few times during our stay while the outside temps were in the high 60's and low 70's Tips - we brought our own foil and parchment paper. They helped for lining baking pans and easy clean up. We brought extra garbage bags - which we did not use. We brought extra toilet paper and used one roll. We brought our own beach chairs but didn't need them as there were some in the garage. Bring extra shampoo and conditioner. There were small bottles of each in each bathroom, but not enough for everyone. The team at southern belle was very helpful. They checked in on us the first day to insure all was good. It was excellent !!! Looking forward to coming back ! This place was great and well worth the money.

We stopped by at the lady there had enveloped our key and was about to leave, but she gave it to us. She was very nice! Our condo was easy to find and in the PERFECT location... totally beachfront. For the price, it was a very good deal. I also liked it wasn't too far down the island. We were on the second floor, which wasn't bad at all. Our condo was pretty clean, but the floors turned our feet black so I think they may have had a little dirt leftover. The kitchen was stocked with utensils and dishes for some minor cooking. I would recommend this company, but I wasn't 100% impressed. See below for pros and cons! A nice bonus was that with our stay we received a free dolphin tour and a free kayak adventure. And the dolphin tour actually went right by where we were staying because that's the best place to see the dolphins. The pool was clean and the guys running the pool are very friendly and had a table full of pool toys to loan out. We will definitely return. The mattress on the bed is very hard but that is a personal preference that we like our mattress to be softer. Great vacation location close to good restaurant.

The blanket options were aged and looked stained or recently abused, glad we had the washer and dryer to use. The kitchen was very well appointed. Blender, panini maker, electric frying pan, large electric skillet, toaster, crockpot, mixer, many plates, cups, serving ware etc. This location was fantastic, you could walk to restaurants and the little local theater where there was a play and some student musicians.
