Interiors are beautiful and cozy. The leather chairs, central bar, and decor take you to another world where you can enjoy your classic cocktail, scotch, or wine in utter opulence. The staff are always efficient and helpful when serving and suggesting drinks if you are feeling a little adventurous. Try the Negroni 1919 or the Espresso Martini. Good selection of wines too and a decent repertoire of Single Malts (for a price!). Bar chow is available too if you feel like you need more than the refillable snacks they serve you. It's also the perfect place to have an intimate conversation or a casual meeting. Cigar smokers and smokers alike will enjoy the fact that you can smoke here (sorry non-smokers!). Price points are expensive compared to your average bars or speakeasies but you're at The Peninsula after all. The overall feel is nostalgic, classic, and definitely for those who enjoy high quality cocktails and drinks in a place that makes you feel like you're transported to a bar in Cuba with different world music playing in the background.

It's a bar atmosphere with a variety live music entertainment. First time here we saw my favorite Filipino band "Aegis", and I heard they play here once a month. I'll be checking the Cowboy Grill website and Facebook page to view their schedule and try to time our future visits with them. The bands, DJ, etc. usually change every hour or so, and like I said earlier the bands vary widely in the music they each play. It can be loud when the bands are playing, but your basically at a concert in a bar, so it's a smaller scale, i.e. The volume is about the level I expect. There's a small space in front of the stage to get your groove on (dance). The food is good, but keep in mind it's at a bar, and your in the Philippines, so they might not have your preferred flavor, sauce, item(s) on/in the order that you would have back home. They serve a variety of drinks ranging from cold beer, liquor, mixed, soda/pop, etc. and I've had the ice every time we've been here and have not had any adverse reactions, i.e. Safe to consume. Two levels for seating, keeping in mind, heat rises so it might get warm on top as the place fills up, which it usually does. Recommend getting there early-ish to get a good /decent seat. It usually gets very busy and may take some time to get your bill, pay, and get your change. You will need to show your receipt to the security guard at the door to leave so they know you aren't running out without paying your bill .. must have had it happen in the past.

The Cowboy Grill is a honky-tonk, with a full-sized stage and two levels of dining / viewing. They are open daily, from 17:00pm to 04:00am. I only went to drink beer and listen to music; but they have a full menu for food, and a full bar. On the night that I visited, they had a cover band; but they also host DJs. (Check their website for the calendar and menu.) On the night of my visit, when I entered, I was assigned a waiter. This individual took my orders that evening. I think they did this to evenly distribute work (and potential tips?). It was fun.

They target foreigners going in Pedro Gil but hey a good pub is a good pub even with the locals. The highlight for me is the lunch buffet that goes from 11am - 3pm, they have at least 15 different kinds of food ranging from international food(Scottish eggs, sushi) to Local foods (chopsuey, fried rice). I drink quite a bit and I was feeling buzzed after one. I played a game of billiards. The billiards are free 11am-5pm but as I came at night it was 25p per round. Loser pays. There are girls working most nights. Friendly expatriates. And a cop working the door to maintain order. Most folks spoke English. Ended up paying 300p for a couple of drinks. Would visit again. There are poor kids begging outside. I just look away and say Hindi Hindi Hindi (no no no) and keep walking. Inside there were girls singing American songs all with choreography and smiles. Other folks were on the dancefloor getting down. Smoking is allowed indoors. But if you prefer not smelling it the non smoking section is behind the bar.

I would totally recommend this place for, as a said, a great view of the sunset. The food was pretty good - great poke. The food, however, is much smaller portions than the other restaurants in the hotel, and we found that we were still hungry after finishing our meal. But the food itself was great! Drinks were hit or miss - my husband loved his cocktail, but mine was so bad I didn't even drink it. If looking for drinks, I'd prefer Sofitel's other restaurant - Le Bar - over this one. With that said, I gave Sunset bar a 4 star because the view really is spectacular to watch the sunet.

I was staying in the hotel and came down to use the pool. Before that, I thought it would be nice to come here for cocktails and a snack. The cocktails were nice looking but had almost no alcohol whatsoever. We sent one back, which they tried to charge us for later. They ended up taking it off after we complained, but I'm shocked that they thought it was acceptable. They are charging foreigner prices here but without the foreigner quality. We also ordered a seafood appetizer, which is overpriced even high-end standards for the amount of food we received. The quality of the food was not high-end either. The service was lacking as well. Initially, we walked up to the bar and noticed it was covered in a fine layer of dust. Really? So many employees and no one could be bothered to wipe it down? We ordered, and decided to sit at a table. The table was also covered in a layer of dust. We called someone to come clean it, and it took almost 15 minutes before anyone returned to wipe it. The lady who wiped it handled the cloth like no one had ever asked her to wipe the table before. She also did not provide us with complete sets of utensils. Eventually, someone else figured it out. It took forever to get our watered down drinks, and even more, time to get the food, which was a huge disappointment. After this, we vowed not to eat anywhere on the property. If a restaurant at a supposed 5-star resort cannot provide adequate service, or even decent food and drink, how are you supposed to trust anything else?
