Came here for the first time with my coworkers. We were unsure where to eat in this beautiful little quiet town, but I was in a mood for some coffee. All they had to eat were singles or double burgers or cheeseburgers so we ordered some. I was kind of skeptical about how a fancy looking wine/coffee has only burgers, buuuuut the burgers were pretty freaking delicious. It was juicy and flavorful and came with tomatoes, onions, and pickles. For beverages, we ordered the Sand on the Beach and Oatmeal Cookies martini (both delicious and smooth), iced Chai tea with Amaretto (pretty delicious), and an iced caramel latte with Kalua (very delicious). The staff are very friendly and fast. There are street parking only. The ambience is low lighting and kind of a romantic setting. There are wine bottles everywhere, buuuut luckily for me, I don't like wine lol. read more

Horrible business with worse practices. A few months ago, my mother left a review of a drink that she wasn't satisfied with. she wanted to provide constructive criticism as customers who have a poor experience should do (and this should be encouraged by businesses who seek to improve). Tonight, they recognized my mother from her review and kicked her out. Any business who can't handle honest, constructive criticism with grace shouldn't be in business. I can't imagine recommending this place to anyone after all of this. read more

My new favorite coffee/wine stop. Coffee drinks are excellent, and ambiance is what an adult coffee shop should be. Elegant, gentle background music, deck, wine bar. I really don't like to leave negative feedback, but this is pretty important for the health and safety of patrons. We came in over the weekend and ordered one of the small plates, the goat cheese dip. Their kitchen set up seems to just be a toaster oven, mini fridge, and counter, which is fine. What is not fine however, is we watched as one of the bartenders pulled someone else's order out of the toaster oven and proceed to grab the toast off the tray with her bare hands before serving it to the customer's. She then cleared another table, returned to the counter without washing her hands, and grabbed our toast out of the oven with her bare hands. A quick Google search will state, "According to the FDA, bare hand contact can transfer dangerous pathogens from hands to food, spreading foodborne illness. In fact, bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods is responsible for 30% of restaurant foodborne illness outbreaks." Please, for the sake of your customer's, invest in food safe gloves or tongs. read more

A friend brought me here the other night and it was amazing! I'd never had red wine before so this was all completely new to me. The place is like old charm meets trendy. You could get lost here. The music, the lighting, just everything about it was inviting. They have a pretty decent menu. One whole side is their wine selection and the other side is their martinis. i did notice they had quite a variety of offerings. Being this was my first time with red wine, I let my friend choose and we ended up going with the red zinfandel. Very nice! Who would've known this little gem was hidden in Le Claire? So worth the drive out here. I'm looking forward to coming back. read more

New in 2011 and located in a quaint town in Iowa along the Mississippi River. They do a really nice job with interesting and seasonal coffee selections and they have a respectable wine selection to sip in the wine bar, on their deck overlooking the river or you can carry out. read more

We frequent 129 as I am a big martinis drinker. The atmosphere of this place is amazing, especially during the summer when you can sit out back on the deck and see the river. This is my absolute favorite place in Le Claire. We are always welcomed and treated like regulars when we're there. The selection, staff, and atmosphere are unbeatable! read more

Beautifully decorated coffee and wine bar. I spent a few hours here on a gloomy, wet, cold Sunday, and really enjoyed the atmosphere (lovely, cozy and lingering) as well as the pumpkin latte. They have a martini menu, lots of wine and some beer as well as coffee drinks. Love that they serve a bowl of popcorn (which was excellent and made by a neighboring merchant) and are perfectly happy to allow patrons to linger. Will definitely be back to this lovely spot. read more

Started my bachelorette party here a few weeks ago and was very impressed. Their martinis are delicious, the building is decorated very nicely, and the atmosphere was inviting. The service was also outstanding. We had a large group of women and none of us were ever without a drink, which is impressive for such a small place. YES! This is what little Le Claire (and the Quad Cities, might I add) needs. The ambiance in this place makes me feel like it's much smaller than it is. They have an extensive selection of wines to buy by the bottle, and they have 5 red and 5 white to choose from by the glass. They also have beers and a full bar, which doesn't interest me in the least bit because their wine is so great. The option to sit out on their patio and look over the river is nice, and they have a variety of tables to seat different numbers of people, which is great if you ever have a larger group. 129 also offers coffee drinks (they open at 10am) as well as appetizers from 5-8. The appetizers are brought in from the Faithful Pilot and the gnocchi were delicious. They also have live music sometimes, which is fun to listen to and is usually announced on their Facebook page. My only critique is that I hope they change their wine list from time to time. As often as we go, I have been able to taste all of their reds and hope to see some more options soon! read more

This was a great place to relax. The atmosphere was nice and the wine was good. I had the Pinot Noir and my husband had the hot chocolate. He said it was good but nothing special. They also had a coffee bar which i will be taking advantage of next time. Our only complaint was that it was pretty busy and there was not a lot of seating. I don't know that I'd change that though because added to the atmosphere. Over all it's a great place to come if you're looking for a relaxing night out. read more

I just found this place and it is so quaint. The atmosphere was so cozy. I had a café martini and it was delicious. I had a filthy martini and it was superb. The bartender was excellent, friendly and perfect. This is my new favorite place to feel good. I highly recommend the 129 and I am confident you will too. read more

Was surprised that it was a bit slow for how great this place is. The blond and brunette bartenders were great and knew what they were doing(sorry, forgot your names). I really liked 129 Coffee and Wine Bar - I didn't have any of the wine (maybe next time), but I did come for coffee! They have a nice selection of espresso and coffee drinks. My friend and I both ordered lattes - they were just as good as Starbucks (which is a compliment coming from me!). The atmosphere is very nice - they have a bar to sit at, some comfy chairs (our chosen spot), and some tables and chairs. A good place to come and relax with a friend and have a conversation. It wasn't busy when we went, but I'm sure they do on the weekends. I would definitely come back and try out their other goodies! read more

We stopped here for iced coffee and it was fabulous. Then two hours later we came back for delicious vodka lemonades and wine. This place is very stylish but you could sit at a table with your kids too. Wish that we had more time in Le Claire to come here for a bottle of wine. read more

Do not order a martini at this place. I ordered the lemon drop martini and it was very large but contained little or no alcohol and they charge $10. A high priced glass of lemonade. read more

While we have always enjoyed this venue in the past, last night was a different story. We entered the bar to see our favorite local vodka, River Pilot, proudly displayed front and center. While my husband went to the facilities, I ordered a Pilot on the rocks from one of the two young men tending bar. He never poured it, but waited for the other bartender to show up, at which point he told me they were out (he needed back up, I guess?) About that time, my husband came back and asked about the display bottle. All we got was "that's a sign bottle." Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere (to the Bierstube where we had a blast and were served quite hospitably.) And of course they had River Pilot - I've never known them to run out, it's a business, you know. read more
