We absolutely loved having brunch here! We found this place by accident; after finishing up a long morning hike at Crowder's Mountain, we were starving. We were looking for places that had outside seating (due to COVID), and they have a great patio. We got there at 1pm, and the owner greeted us. She explained that they just had a bunch of reservations come in, but we can grab the empty table we saw outside, and she would be with us soon. Outside, there were 3 big parties (6 or more) and then one other couple. We grabbed the empty table, enjoying the sunshine and the music the band was playing. We were in no rush, and our waitress was super sweet. We started off with the trio dip. The homemade hummus was some of the best hummus we had ever had. We both really enjoyed the pimento cheese dip and the roasted pineapple dip. There was so much dip! Definitely recommend getting that! Our entrees came out later, and they were delicious!! I loved the eggs benedict. They made their own bacon. Y'all. They made their own bacon! The entire dish was a great balance of savory, salty, and delicious! The eggs were poached perfectly. (I love a runny egg!) The hasbrowns were also homemade. You guys, I do not mind paying a little more when things are done right and with love. To be honest, I didn't even think the prices were that much more expensive than any other brunch place. My boyfriend ordered the 133 burger, with a fried egg on top, and he devoured it. 133 West offers a rare 'nice casual' dining experience previously only really available in Kings Mountain at the Cherokee Grill, also in downtown. My wife and I tried the Saturday brunch. We were given a complimentary hand sanitizer upon arrival since we're still in the COVID-world environment. My wife got a brunch-size shrimp and grits for $14. I got a 133 Burger with home fries for $14. Both were excellent. The shrimp and grits were full of flavor. The burger was juicy, the Brie was super melty, and the onion jam was super flavorful. The space inside 133 is gorgeous. The food we had was fantastic. We'll be back soon to try other dining options. They do a dinner menu in the evenings as well, if you're able to pay more for nice plates. I hope 133 does well since it offers a different level and style of dining for the small town of Kings Mountain. read more

Really enjoyed my brunch. The restaurant and food was higher end but the service was so personable. The brunch menu was so appetizing I had trouble narrowing down my choice. This little upscale bistro is a great addition to Kings Mountain, offering us another option for dining. The newly renovated interior has a casual, somewhat industrial, appeal because of the exposed beams on the ceiling, but the ambiance is nice, and the laid back atmosphere is quite relaxing. They also have a lovely covered patio for dining outdoors. In the evenings, they sometimes have entertainment as well, so it would be a nice place to go and have a glass of wine and just chill out. The current menu is somewhat limited, but I believe they will expand the menu when they work out all the little kinks in the system and have a grand opening. I had the fish sandwich which was good, albeit a little greasy, and I liked it. I went back the next day to try one of their salads I saw someone get after I got my lunch the day before because it looked so good, and it was good as well. They had homemade butternut squash soup that day, so i tried that too. The soup was good, but wasn't quite hot, and it was described as being garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds, but the seeds were not shelled so that was not as I expected. 133 West isn't doing takeout orders right now, and that would be nice, especially given the pandemic and the need for some people to not be out in crowds. The service was excellent, but a little slow, and again, I am attributing that to just being a new venue and trying to get into a routine of operation. All in all I'm glad they are finally open and I hope they do well. I will gladly go back, and I would encourage you to go as well. read more

Took it back and she brought me what I ordered about 10 minutes later and said she grabbed the wrong plate. My husband asked about desserts and she said she wasn't sure what they had left, but they might have key lime lie. So he said key lime pie. The waitress said she would go check to make sure they still had it. About 10 minutes later she came back with a check so he asked about the key like pie. She forgot about it. Came back with one about 15 minutes later. They weren't busy at all, so it wasn't like she was dealing with a lot of tables. There were maybe 6 tables with customers all together inside and outside. WOW! What a find! My lovely bride and I spent the day hiking at nearby Crowders Mountain State Park with friends and we worked up a mean thirst. Yelped places nearby where we could grab a drink and appetizers to take the edge off before our dinner reservation at another place close to home. Rolled into 133 West and sat out on the dog friendly patio with our pooch in tow. Neat little downtown area provided great ambiance. Seated, greeted and had beverages in short order - we had a great server in Cristina, who rattled off a list of specials that was longer than the menu! Ordered 3 apps - bacon-wrapped scallops, fried green tomatoes with a dynamite spicy crab, shrimp and bacon (!) relish and a 3 dip board with pita wedges to dip into tzatziki, hummus and pimento cheese. It was at this point we knew we were onto something special. Floored by the variety and blown away by the taste/quality of the food! At this point, given the cool ambiance, great service, refreshing beverages and outstanding food, we changed plans and cancelled our other reservation - we wanted more of 133 West! We all ordered dinner and we're glad we did. Ribeye special, prime steak martini served in a martini glass - sister in law would not put it down.....you have to check this one out! - and interesting arugula salad with mozzarella balls and grilled chicken. Only quibble was chicken was a little dry but really enjoyed the taste/texture/freshness of the salad. Owner Iris came out to check on us and we ended up having a great conversation - very interesting lady! We enjoyed our chat with her. We were offered small blankets to drape over us to ward off the chill, they turned on the patio heaters for us, offered pooch Ryder water and really made us feel welcome. Small touches that really put this place over the top. One of our best restaurant experiences of the year in small town Kings Mountain. My friends and I were looking for a nearby brunch spot after our hike up Crowders Mountain. We found this gem on Yelp. It had 5 stars but only 5 reviews. We decided to take a chance. OMG everything about this place is wonderful--the atmosphere, the service, and especially the food! We ordered shrimp & grits, the vegetable frittata, the burger, bananas foster, blueberry cheesecake, and praline pie. We could not say enough about how good this food is! We drove by here a couple weeks ago and the layout really jumped out to us so we checked it it recently. Nice outdoor seating area along the side of the restaurant. Hopefully they can continue to develop the area to help with the feel in that area. The bar seating is nice but small and kind of runs up next to the host area. For Kings Mountain the prices are high compared to what you would think of in KM but the prices fit bc the food is so good with a lot of thought into the revolving menu. That being said, I always feel places with 27 $ entrees all over the menu are a little inflated anyway. The wine menu and draft beer options were a bit light but there were bottles of beer if none of the drafts are for you. The wine selections seemed more well rounded. Problem with the beverages the weekend I went is this: They ran out of the only IPA option a day or 2 before so they put a 2nd "pumpkin" or fall themed beer on tap. So now there were no IPAs along w 2 fall pumpkin style, an amber beer (was good) and bud light. Might have been another up there but it doesn't come to mind. DONT RUN OUT OF IPAs. The burger I ordered had onion jam and a couple different cheeses on it. It was great. Shoestring style fries were good although I prefer steak fries or waffle style. If your looking for a high end diner without driving to Charlotte or wherever give them a shot. read more
