My weakness? chicken wings! Minding my business... Curious about Happy Hour, I stopped into 15th & Eads Bar, located inside the Marriott Hotel. Happy Hour Monday-Friday | 4:00-6:30 PM I ordered the plain Crispy Wings, served with fresh, crunchy carrot and celery sticks. As always, I requested my wings "cooked twice." Mission accomplished; quick service and a good value too! Hot. Meaty. Tender. Juicy. Plump. Crispy. Flavorful. Every bite was satisfying. I alternated between using my hands and flatware, pairing the wings with BBQ sauce and ranch dressing. The wings had plenty of flavor on their own, but both sauces were excellent complements. Just as enjoyable as the food was the atmosphere. I appreciated the laughter, light conversations, and relaxed energy throughout the bar. Sometimes that's exactly what Happy Hour should be. If I could rate this lower, I would. And I absolutely hate to give a one star, but this was highway robbery. Let's start with service: Although the server promptly handed me a menu, she disappeared for the next 22 mins. She walked past my table 4 times, but never came to check on me. When I initially sat down, the table next to me ordered salads & beers. They were nearly done with their food before I was able to place an order. Presentation: The menu is very straightforward, but there are definitely some liberties taken with the descriptions of the food. I opted to order the pork belly tacos, and because I love them, I also ordered a side of hush puppies. I don't eat a lot, so I figured I'd have leftovers to take up to my room. Food: Imagine my surprise when I was presented with the sorriest 4 pork belly tacos I've ever seen. Each was maybe a bite and a half. My Apple Watch was almost bigger. They came with a green chile sauce & pico de gallo. Both bowls of sauce were twice the size of the tacos. Speaking of, the tacos were overstuffed with cabbage & onions, & maybe a hint of pork. I was very glad I ordered the hush puppies. Until I had a look at them. I received 4 of the most overcooked, flavorless hush puppies I've ever eaten. And inside they had crab, I did not receive the sauce. I did not finish them. Along with a Heineken, I spent $50. I want my money back. read more

15 & Eads is conveniently located near me so we thought to get up and enjoy breakfast there this morning only to be disappointed. We always do the "all you can eat buffet" which use to be great when we started going here last October once moving to area. The price then for the "all you can eat buffet" was $19 per person ....months later moved up to $21 and now $24. Definitely wouldn't complain about the $24 if it was worth $24. Seems as the price moved up, they started changing the items and removing items for the buffet but asking for more money. This morning as we were getting our plates, most items were cold, my waffle was too hard that I couldn't even cut with my knife. I had grabbed a yogurt but didn't open with my breakfast so I brought home with me only to see it's out of date. Today is the 20th and it has the 14th on it. So clearly not worth $24, especially when there is other places within the Crystal City area you can receive better for same price. read more

I was having some pre-welcoming reception cocktails at this hotel bar. I was at the Marriott Crystal City Gateway for a major industry meeting in December. The bar was packed with attendees, but the staff took it like a champ and gave great service. I ordered my bourbon and coke and got it in no time. The place is spacious and comfortable considering the amount of people who were in here! I greatly enjoyed my time here, conversing with colleagues I had not seen in months! read more

We ate here twice during our stay. We had dinner and breakfast. Their dinner menu is very small. We ordered a burger and chocolate cake. The burger and fries were surprisingly very good and much cheaper than expected. The cake wasn't that great. Breakfast-we ordered the grand buffet. It was extremely over priced for the offering. That doesn't mean it wasn't good, it just wasn't near anywhere worth $25/person. read more

Their menu was completely different from the one online. When we asked about it, they said "because we are so busy, it's a limited menu". They were not busy. We left and went to a different hotel's restaurant (after calling to confirm they were serving everything we wanted from the online menu). Very impressed by the food at the Marriot Crystal Gateway . I had to do some work so ended up camping out from 1-9pm doing some work . I basically ate, lunch and dinner there so I experienced several menu items : all were excellent and the service was quite attentive. I ordered room service. Food (hamburger) arrived in a timely fashion. It was not piping hot but also not cold. I did not appreciate receiving plastic utensils with which to eat it, and my Caesar salad had a lot of center rib pieces. When I found the bill, the cost of the hamburger was $3 (19%) greater than what was published on its website. THAT misrepresentation irritated me. I won't be eatinng at 15th & Eads again. The grilled cheese was delicious as was the cocktail. The service was terrible. We checked in at 10:50 and were told the kitchen was only open till 11 but the bar was open till 12. I ran up to my room to drop my bags and come back down. As I approached the bar I was told hurry up it's last call what do you want. I ordered the first thing I saw on the special board and asked if the kitchen was open. I was told I had 7min make it quick. I looked at the menu and while deciding someone came out from. The kitchen and told me I needed to order now no problem I ordered something I thought wouldn't put them out to much or take long. It was delicious but the service was horrible. I was still finishing my fries when the bartender said your done right and took the plate. Horrendous. The waiter was trying his best to cover per 20 tables. Over 75 minutes for a sandwich, flatbread and a app of Brussel sprouts. The sandwich was completely dried out by the heat lamp. It had been under the lamp so long the ketchup serving and it's cup were hot to the touch when it finally came. The app arrived with the entrees and looks to be the last thing that was made. The flat bread was decent. The waiter just kept telling everyone their foot is coming out right now. I'm at the hotel for a conference and it's depressing that this is what I have to rely on for close food. read more

15th & Eads is a spot my husband and I ended up while staying in Alexandria. We weren't staying at the there at the hotel it is apart of but the reviews on Yelp made it sound very promising. It wasn't a far walk from our Airbnb either. Their is access from the outside so that you do not have to enter through the hotel lobby to get to it. Once we entered, we made our way up to the bar and grabbed to seats. The interior is really nice. I loved the high top tables, marble community table, copper finishes, and modern accents. The bartender we had was great as well. He was very helpful with explaining the drink menu and made great suggestions, such as the blood orange margarita. It was among the best margaritas I've had and the first blood orange margarita I've had too. I also tried the cucumber gin fizz. This one was crisp, refreshing, and the subtle taste of the fresh cucumber was perfect. Upon request you can also ask for some of their complimentary popcorn. It tasted fresh and has a bit of spice to it. And let's be honest, it's always nice to munch on a little something while you enjoy drinks. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience. The prices are reasonable and the cocktails were great. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone in the area. Even if you aren't a hotel guest. read more

This place is just OK. Service really leaves lots to be desired. Like many other places, probably don't have the ideal ratio of staffing these days. They really leave you waiting for a long time before tending to you. Food is just ok. Their burger was super dry, granted, I did order medium, rather than MR. My bad. It works after a long day of travel. The Club is decent, the bisque is good and the burger is ok. Pasta is terrible, and steak is a little better than terrible. Honestly I wish this place was better. Chef's take on chicken and waffles is incredible. Instead of a heavy waffle, the waffle is used as the batter for the fried chicken. The maple it would normally be syrup on a waffle is used to enhance the color greens. Lighter fresher and delicious version of a heavy normally southern classic. read more

Also, the freezing temperatures of the hotel make it difficult to enjoy a meal before it gets cold - not room temperature, but cold! The breakfast buffet is overpriced for cold food and tough biscuits. It's a hotel restaurant though so I guess expectations should naturally be kept low. My friends and I were staying at the hotel and looking for a late night place to eat on a Sunday night in D.C. (yeah there was nothing). 15th & Eads was the perfect place with great service and food. We ordered two side of fries, the Brussels Sprout and Pork Belly Salad, and the Farmer's Market Greens Salad. The fries were hot and fresh. The Farmer's Market salad was filling and we got a large portion size (but they over did it a little on the dried apricots and cranberries). The Brussels Sprout and Pork Belly Salad was disappointing, and wasn't much of a salad at all. It looked like grilled pork belly served on thin, soggy, brussel sprout leaves, and was not worth $13. We were staying at this hotel, the Marriott in Crystal City, and needed a quick bite in the afternoon. We sat at the bar. There are tables available to sit but we decided to sit at the bar. There is a full bar with a variety of craft beer on tap from national and local breweries. The bartender was busy but he gave us our menus and took our drink orders. We both got burgers and they were really good. Cooked just right and the fries were good as well. We walked by this place around 6pm and there was a long line to get in so make sure you get here at the right time. read more

I have stayed at the Marriott Gateway twice this year. The service at 15th & Eads is consistently poor. Wait times for service and refills are lengthy to say the least. That said, the food is good and the location convenient if you are a guest of the hotel. read more

My expectations were this place were extremely low, but this place is pretty good for a hotel restaurant. I like the little iPad menus and the staff was fairly attentive. The food is tasty and interesting and the staff is pretty attentive. After a long day of traveling, the last thing I wanted to do was leave the hotel. This is why all hotels need lobby restaurants. Service: They seem to constantly be understaffed, so service is slow. This is not the fault of the waiters though, you can see them trying their best. Food: The grilled cheese is absolutely fantastic, so were the crab hush puppies and the meatballs. However, we noticed there were some inconsistencies between meals (the grilled cheese was less fantastic a day later, the sauces with the tenders varied in quality). Drink: The bar is inconsistent. Day One I had a wonderful whisky sour, and Day Three I was puckering my lips. Overall, everything is good. I've had great meals, and then I had decent meals. I didn't have a bad meal once. read more

Came here for dinner and drinks with a friend who was staying nearby. The ambience is nice but it is loud. The restaurant is in the lobby of the hotel and there is no ceiling to close off the dining area. I had the prime rib and they made adjustments to make it gluten and dairy free. The asparagus was fine and the prime rib was also fine-- but definitely not worth the price. The server was kind and friendly but it was clear he had no idea what gluten was-- it would help if their management trained their staff about food allergies to prevent a disaster in the future. While staying at the hotel on vacation, we enjoyed 15th & Eads a number of times. Our first evening, arriving late in the day, we tried the restaurant for the convenience. After our first meal, The Salad with Grilled Chicken, it was decided we needed to try more of their offerings. We didn't try the Breakfast Buffet, but ordered off their menu. Can I tell you for a restaurant that is placed in a ridiculously busy hotel I am impressed. It is crazy hard to please everyone all the time and to be honest they can't. But what I can tell you is the appetizers are spot on, drinks, forget about it, and entrees delicious. Could they make it better, yes. Could the staff work harder, yes. I stayed at the hotel and ate at this restaurant for the breakfast that was included in my room rate. The service was excellent and very attentive. I think the orange juice was fresh squeezed! Coffee and hot tea are also available. For the hotel breakfast, you don't order from the menu. Let them know you're doing the hotel breakfast at the beginning so they know you're not ordering from the menu. Instead, there's a buffet in a separate room that has the regular eggs, sausage, chicken sausage and potatoes. There is an omelet bar where you can also order fresh waffles. There is also fruit, cereal and yogurt. The selection was decent and the quality was also decent. The atmosphere was very pleasant; it's located in the middle of the hotel and kind of open concept so you can exit the restaurant via multiple ways. read more

So much potential! Such poor execution. My colleagues and I ate here twice while staying at the hotel. The food was good. All of it was tasty. The service was abysmal! Empty glasses, had to ask for things like silverware multiple times to get them, food cold by the time it got to us, the first evening literally had to get up and ask the bartender for help to get the check because we thought the waiter may have gone home he had been gone for so long. What can I say about the restaurant inside the Marriott ... exceptional service first of all. Every time I had a meal with them the service was great. Let's start with the first meal I had the night upon arrival. I had a Caesar salad with chicken and it was delicious. The chicken was not dry and there was more than enough romaine lettuce . The croutons were not as crisp as I would have liked but overall it was great. The other times I ate downstairs I had a burger with fries and my goodness it was delicious! Cooked just right and fries were made to order. Now the fries are the seasoned fries not the plain fries. Now for breakfast ... I had the two yolk sandwich which was very good. I knew I wanted to break down my sandwich so one day I had scrambled eggs and another day, yes , another day I had over easy eggs. I will say the reason I ate this meal twice is the hash-browns!! It was moist but yet had the crispness on the outside. The other deliciousness in this breakfast was the sour dough toast. The only problem I could find is the seating is awkward and not the most comfortable. They were going for a look and over function. Lunch review: Crab cake appetizer are 3 round balls. They are small but very good. Probably could have been cooked a little longer as they were only browned on one side. Sweet flaky crab meat, highly recommend. Chicken Caesar salad is fresh and delicious. Not too much dressing. My biggest complaint is that the kitchen is slow and servers even slower. If you are on a time crunch for lunch this is not the place for you. It is why many of us do not eat at hotel restaurants for lunch in general. Service is too slow. read more
