Meh. It's a hotel restaurant. Pretty low-key. Had it not been 34 degrees outside, I would have been more inclined to step out into the neighborhood and walk to a restaurant. The Crowne Plaza front desk gave me a 15% OFF coupon at check-in too. The Sparkle Sangria was very good, and I ordered a second. I ordered the Maryland Blue Crab Dip and Wedge Salad. The toasted baguette wedges were a nice accompaniment to the hot dip. But the dip was unexciting and bland. It took so long for the salad to come out, I was about to tell them to forget about it. The bacon on the wedge salad was a bit undercooked. Maybe this is me -- but part of the appeal of Wedge Salad is slicing into the crispy lettuce wedge. PST serves there's already sliced. The service as a little slip-shod but friendly. If I stay at the Crowne Plaza Crystal City again, I might stop in for a drink-- but would skip dinner. read more

And the bar was charming and while not huge, had a party room in the back for larger groups. Happy hour specials were solid with several options of beer, wine and cocktails to pick from, plus food specials. It's pricey but the food is definitely good. I ate here 2 nights in a row. On the first night I got the Wagyu burger and the apple tart with ice cream. Also had a beer flight which was a nice sampling of 4 of the beers which were on tap. The burger was very good and the apple tart was excellent. On the second night I started with the Mezze platter which was very good - also I must give credit where credit is due in that offer on things like this you run out of hummus and tabbouleh and are stuck with a bunch of dry unadorned pita. Well not here!! I was generously slathering stuff in the pitas and still had hummus and tabbouleh leftover to put on the cucumber slices. I also had the green curry tofu which had a nice spice kick to it. There was a bit of a wait to be seated the first night, they weren't overly busy it just took quite a while to be seated. On the second night I was seated pretty quickly. Servers were attentive and knowledgable. Quite friendly as well. There is a large bar which is pretty full and several tables, both "regular" and high tops. This place is located in a hotel - Crown Plaza Crystal City. This wasn't clear, but I probably just missed that. Parked in the street using the park app. There is a parking garage. I do r know if they validate for restaurant business. Restaurant is pretty small. We weee promptly greeted and seated at a table for 2. Wife had the autumn inspired sangria. I stuck with water this trip. Menu was reasonable in depth and price. Not bad for DC metro at least. We started with the mezzeh appetizer. Super good. I had the burger. So I was back at Crowne Hotel and decided to try Potomac again because it's hit or miss. It was St Paddy's day weekend so they had some specials going on so babe and I gave it a try. The specials were delicious.... I had the Lamb Chops w/ mashed potatoes and carrots and Babe had the seafood Chowder thumbs up this time. Great Cosmo that really started our vacay weekend right! Come and get it! So we wanted a night cap and a munchie and shared their fish and chips which were fresh and fluffy! The place was the hotel bar (Crowne plaza at crystal city) so we were very surprised it actually had a cool atmosphere and many patrons at 9:30 pm and was serving food and drinks until 11! At the end of a long travel and work day, it was nice to return to the hotel and stay in for dinner. This spot is located on the mezzanine level of the Crowne Plaza Crystal City hotel. The atmosphere is truly reminiscent of a tavern, with a full bar and dinner seating. While it wasn't crowded, most tables were reserved so we were seated at a high top table up against the television, which was a bit odd for viewing, but we were happy to be seated without delay. The menu had several great options, and I went for French onion soup and the Asian chicken salad. The crock of soup was deep, and the soup was warm and delicious. The salad was perfectly dressed and the noodles and edamame offered nice texture. Definite positive to get a great meal without leaving the hotel! read more

The Potomac Social Tavern is a nice little restaurant in the Crown Plaza hotel. I went there with a rather large group of about 16 people for a retirement ceremony. The restaurant has a large bar with plenty of seating. There are tables throughout the bar area as well. They offer a pretty decent happy hour with $5 cocktails that ends at 6pm weekly. Towards the back of the bar area is a room where they have additional table setting. The back room is really cute and well lit. I ordered the chesapeak crab dip to start. It came out hot and with baked baguettes! It was pretty good but, a tad bit salty! For my meal, I ordered the prime burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon and cheese (bacon and cheese were a $1 for each extra topping). The service was great! Our waiter was awesome and very attentive for such a large group. My only issue was that all of our food came out cold. My burger was okay but, my fries were cold, as well as others orders at the table. The only thing that came out warm/hot was the crab dip and and Mac and Cheese. A few people at the table ordered a side of Mac that was pretty tasty but, definitely not worth the "truffle Mac and cheese" title! Overall, our meal was just okay. Drinks were okay and I enjoyed the apps better than my meal. Recommend the kitchen work on food timing to ensure everyone's food is hot! read more

Located at the bottom of Crowne by the parking lot, this small tavern has bar like vibes but a clean look. My friends and I decided to give this place a try on a Sunday evening. If you're not staying in the hotel, look for parallel parking. We got some drinks, and good. The crab dip was delicious and the bread was so toasty and crunchy. The mussels were average - not a big fan of tomato base mussels and they only had one option. At $16 for 6 wings the least they could do is give you 6 wings. I have seem to have found a hidden gem in my local neighborhood nestled in the crowne plaza hotel as I somehow happened to stumble in. Potomac Social gave off major laid back vibes where I could grab a bite and drink after a long day. The bao buns were phenomenal, so light like a cloud and the tender pork belly wasn't fatty at all. Oh man and that grilled chicken sandwich with that onion bun almost knocked me out how it good it was. Washed it all down with a delicious cherry blossom martini recommended to me by the server that was a 10/10. My only knock would be that the side of truffle mac and cheese looked and tasted like it came out of a kraft box, rather than a decadent truffle tasting Mac I was expecting. We are in town to watch our son play in the Capital Classic and we're staying at the Crowne Plaza Crystal City. After a long day of great lacrosse at Audi Field, we didn't feel like going out to dinner, so we went downstairs to eat at Potomac Social Tavern. I was wary because of the one star review, and not a lot of mention of the food, but let me tell you, the food and service were both excellent! My husband and I got burgers and both were cooked perfectly to order. The fries were delicious. And my salad was fresh. When we left, we asked if we could take a grilled cheese with us for our grandsons, and some strawberries. Neither were on the menu, but they graciously provided both. I recommend this restaurant to everyone staying at the Crowne Plaza and to anyone in this area. You will not be disappointed! read more

I stay at the Crown Plaza on most trips to DC, and partake in the good food and drinks served by Said and Medi. The service is always wonderful and the food delicious. My favorites include the crab cakes, Asian noodle salad, and Mussels. I always ask for a new drink suggestion and am never disappointed whether I get a nice glass of wine or tasty cocktail. Said (sigh-eed'), the manager, recognized me from visiting six months prior. I stay at the Crowne Plaza when I am teaching for the government, partly because it is close to where I work and partly because of the Potomac Social Tavern. Said and his wife and staff are exceptional hosts, providing good food, service, and all at very reasonable prices considering it is in a DC hotel. I like the happy hour menu, as well as the salmon with pesto sauce. I've not had a bad meal or experience and have been there several times. read more

I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. It was decent, brought out promptly, and at just under $20 was a pretty good deal for this pricey area. However, the service was poor. My drink was served in a tiny glass. It was empty before the food even arrived, and I was never asked if I wanted a refill, which I did. I had dinner here last night and it was one of the worst meals I've ever paid for. I had the short rib. It was chewy and obviously old meat! I mean REALLY terrible. The mashed potatoes were awful and for some reason they put carrots and celery in there (the type that you get with buffalo wings) which were also soft and rotted on the ends. The iced tea I was given tasted like it was filter through my gym sock. The guy to the right of me had the pasta and he hated it. The guy on my left had the French dip and he hated it.
