We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop by McNamara's--and I'm so glad we did. This place ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. We ordered the wings, a burger, and the Carolina pulled pork sandwich, and everything was amazing. The wings were full of flavor, the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the pulled pork sandwich had that perfect smoky, tangy balance. It's always hit or miss trying new spots when you're traveling, but this one was definitely a win. read more

Right in the center of Arlington is this great little sports bar/ pub. Had all the soccer games playing and decent drink prices. Was in town for a work event and wanted to try something different. After our flight to DC, we were starving from being up super early for our flight. I wanted to find a place that was in close proximity to the airport and came across this spot on Google. I thought this would be perfect because my mom is always trying to find a new place for her beloved fish and chips! My brother and I shared the chicken Caesar wrap that definitely hit the spot. Im gonna tell you straight. The fish & chips were breaded and cooked really well. The large pieces of cod were great. Fries are fries, but they were good. Mediocre experience at best. Stopped in for St. Patrick's Day weekend in order to take advantage of the festivities, namely the live music they had. The food was okay: the house salad was decent enough, but the chicken pot pie was subpar. Edible sure, but the sauce was bland and in dire need of more herbs and spices, and the chicken-to-potato ratio was way off. Definitely think Sysco is their supplier. The service, unfortunately, was really poor. The salad had to be remade twice due to the server, and then the kitchen, not following my instructions. The manager tried to explain this, but did so in a dismissive manner. If she really felt bad, she would have comped the salad from the bill for the inconvenience Finally, the menu was condensed for St. Patrick's weekend, which was quite inconvenient given that they didn't announce it on their socials/website and I have been on a low-carb/low-red meat diet, which severely limited my options. Not even the monthly specials were available. The server obviously felt bad and was rather friendly, and the traditional Irish music was quite lovely, hence the extra star. However, I didn't think I'll be back in the near future given these above issues; all of which are classic "growing-complacent-with-training-and-quality" type issues. read more

Small corner restaurant on a strip of different kinds of restaurants, you have a mixture of options. Came here to enjoy happy hour and have drinks with friends. They have food and drink specials throughout the week including weekends! $5 dollar jameson on a Sunday?! Who doesn't love that? Bar was fully packed so we got a table, but the service was pretty quick. Chandler was on top of getting our drinks and stayed attentive even when they had a quick dinner rush. They were kind of slow around 530pm then around 6pm had a full restaurant. Nothing on the food menu screamed "EAT ME," but i did find some items intriguing enough to want to come and try again. The Poutine tots did catch my eye and i was super excited to try it as i love cheese curd poutines! The tots?! 10/10. It was so yummy, had pulled pork, cheese, and it was smothered in gravy! Each bite was coated perfectly and they did not skimp on the pork! I am getting hungry thinking about it right now...I would love to actually come try some of their Irish dishes since it is an Irish sport pub. I knocked off one star, because the cleanliness of the restaurant slacked a little and so did the bathrooms, dirty no toilet paper or soap... floors were wet and sticky as well as the tables. I get super ick when i see that so it makes me wonder how their kitchen is...scary. Hopefully their staff cares about food handling and takes the back of the house serious! read more

Our group of 4 stopped in for drinks and apps after a nice day. I'd didn't eat much because my stomach was sick after my wife's wallet was stolen from her purse by the pair of clowns that were seated behind us. With his back turned he reached into her purse and extracted her wallet. My son kind of noticed it and asked my wife to check as the pair of fellows left. Indeed the wallet was gone and the pair had hoofed away quickly. Here is the point of my review: The manager seemed concerned and urged us to call the police as they would come right away. No they won't, in fact the police wouldn't take a statement at all. I had to go online to make a report. The officer I spoke to indicated they were understaffed and only responded to violent crimes. So you can pick pockets or steal all you want in Arlington and the police won't even take a report. I really feel like the manager was familiar with the fellows who stole the wallet. I noticed them wandering comfortably around before they were seated next to us. The fact that the manager insisted that the police would be right out, when as policy they would not was quite odd. As a side note the manager could have at least comped us our drinks. So, hold your valuables close when visiting Arlington; especially McNamara's. read more

I came back for the karaoke and gave this place another chance. It has gotten MUCH better! Food is still good. They have more staff, which helps a lot. It ia now a solid bar and great place for groups. Karaoke is every Friday and Saturday night 9pm-1am. Free parking in the large parking lot behind the block. To cap off a day of sightseeing in Washington DC. We referred to Yelp and found this amazing Irish pub! Lots of locals. After reviewing their menu and ordering adult beverages, my wife decided on their adult grilled cheese and I their mahi-mahi special. The adult grilled cheese was spectacular filled with thick, bacon and tomatoes, the mahi-mahi special was truly delicious! A large portion of fish and wonderfully steamed vegetables! We sat at the bar and of course had great service! It's really our favorite spot. Nibble on my wife ordered a side of their tater tots. They were crisp and delicious! We ended up walking here from the metro station, I don't know if I would fully recommend that but I do recommend the restaurant. We arrived on a Saturday with a 1 PM reservation. I have to admit, the reservation was not necessary. The restaurant had several customers, but in no way was a reservation needed. We were seated quickly, and the menu provides options for everyone. Luckily we were right in between brunch and lunch so we had a ton of options. I ended up going with a macaroni and cheeseburger with tots, what an amazing burger. It was cooked as I ordered, and the mac & cheese was delicious. Tater tots were pretty standard, but highly recommend ordering this meal. Another guest ordered a hotdog kids meal, no concerns there. Another member of our party ordered the spice bag and it was one of the best meals they had our entire trip. They could not stop talking about it and when we got home, they were looking for restaurants in the area that also carried it. The last member of our party went with a deconstructed burger, no complaints from them. They said it was delicious and cooked exactly how they wanted it. There are a lot of restaurants in this area, lots of bars, and plenty of Italian restaurants. If you get a little nervous, having to pick one restaurant out of a ton, you won't go wrong with this option. Staff were very friendly during our visit. We interacted with about three different employees and they were all great. The restaurant itself is your typical Irish pub, fun music, lots of drink options and of course, the customers are always a treat. If you're in the area, I'm looking for something delicious. McNamara's is a popular sports bar in Crystal City with a nice old-school vibe. Kind of reminds you of the pubs in London or the bar from the old sitcom, Cheers. Wooden decor and signed jerseys from famous athletes everywhere. I came here for solo dinner and started with a Candied Bacon Old Fashioned. Very good classical cocktail with that twist at the end, and yes bacon goes well with everything! For entrees, I went for the Honey Glazed Salmon, Good portion size and the salmon was cooked perfectly along with the rice and generous portion of veggies. I wished it had more glaze though, since the carrot puree was soaked up by all the rice. Solid dish, but next time I'm eating at an Irish Gastropub it's probably better to have local favorites like fish and chips or Shepherd's Pie. Speaking of pie, their Apple Pie is a solid dessert. Walked the block looking for something that might just hit the spot. Stopped in and the place was busy and food looked good. The server told us to sit where we wanted. There was a table by the window and we sat down. The four of us were in town visiting so we all tried something different. We ordered the calamari, tuna melt with seasonal veggies, a shepherds pie, bangers and mash, and the corned beef and cabbage. Well, started out great with the calamari and the McNamara's Lager was delicious. It only got better. The Tuna Melt was the best I ever had. Not mayonnaise and runny, absolutely delicious with the jalapeños. The seasonal veggies were cooked perfectly al dente and buttered to perfection. No salt and pepper needed. The Bangers and Mash were incredible and filling. The plates were cleared for both the shepherds pie and corned beer and cabbage. If you live in or around town you are lucky to have to have a GREAT Irish Pub. If you are visiting like we were you should stop by and try. read more

Met a co-worker who was in town for lunch. He got the Sheppards pie and said it was very good. It was big but he ate the whole thing! The waiter said they make the chicken pot pie fresh everyday. Glad my friend got to try it. I got the American burger with a side of Mac and cheese. I ordered the burger with blue cheese crumbles, extra lettuce, and onion rings instead of the fries that come with the it. Burger was a minute over cooked but still delicious. Not sure if I got the extra lettuce. The onion rings were worth every calorie! So crunchy. So fresh. Mac and cheese was delicious but needed a little salt.
